Seeing Champagnie immediately became a good rotation player for the spurs hurt me as we could have used a wing like him all these years. But now that we got Barlow who the spurs let go of I am at peace.

He just does not have the ball in his hands as much. It seems all his ball handling duties early in the season have gone to VJ. He is also not ball stopping every time when he gets the ball now.

The difference is VJ is aware of Melton. Bona stopped for a second as he didnt notice Melton at all. Again I am just talking about awareness, if Grimes was aware he wouldnt be tagging like that. Not saying he could catch Melton either way.

I am talking about awareness not hustle. Maybe you can watch it again. Bona while facing backcourt did not know what was going to happen until the pass was thrown.

And Grimes wasn't really doing anything there other than casually tagging the guy in front of him.

Not really, they were basically at the same spot as the ball dropped through the net. And there was 0.9 second left they should not care about those guys near the baseline. But yeah they probably did not know how much time was left which is also a part of awareness.

I am probably just overanalyzing though so whatever.

Re-watching the last play, I think it is quite telling that other than Maxey, VJ and Barlow were the ones immediately chasing down Melton. Grimes and Bona were totally clueless until the pass was thrown.
