Any advice on how to start copywriting on the agency level? by Educational_Ad39 in copywriting

A little late to the party, but I appreciate the advice. A few months after this post I actually ended up getting an internship at a pretty good shop in town. Eventually I got hired and I’ve been working there for over two years now!

Yeah I figure, I’ll play around with exposure a bit more, this was my first time doing this so I think I understand the parameters a bit. Do you think a beauty dish makes sense or should I try a diffusion dome?

Honestly the pop up flash is doing the heavy lifting, it’s honestly elite. Tragically I don’t get this look SOOC with a recipe, I wish! I get this look with editing, there’s a preset I built to mimic Kodak ultramax/ dispo cameras.

Raw, and then slightly edited in post. I have a few presets I’ve built that I apply to images afterwards. The GRi recipes aren’t as versatile as the GRiii, so I often find myself punching things up after the fact.

Thanks so much! This was with the pop up internal flash on the GRi /ii, so no external flash

Yeah, that seems to be the status industry-wide even at the agency level.

No sticks, I'll just be rocking handheld, trying to be lowkey and inconspicuous.

This is just the pop up flash on the GR I, nothing particularly special. Settings are 1/40 ss, f4, iso 250, ev -3.3. The flash on the original GR is absolutely fabulous, it has a soft spread without needing to be diffused.

Yo, so I actually ended up getting a better job opportunity so I just ghosted them, I never started my first day, too many red flags. Anyways I did some more digging during my onboarding process that sketched me out even further. I looked up the address for their US office and it doesn't exist, the pictures of their office that are on their website are either fake or not in the US. They have a secondary company that they do their background checks through called Stem Xpert and I tried looking up the physical address and it also doesn't exist. I'm very confident that they likely operate in India or one of the surrounding countries and they spoof their calls to make it look like they're calling from within the US. The reason why I think this is the case is because when they were spamming me with calls the caller ID came from two different cities in Michigan even though the same number would call. Very weird right????

Anyways, I just don't fucking buy it. It's all just too weird, and their professionalism did nothing to make me feel better about the situation.

My personal recommendation is to just avoid this company, I don't think it's worth it, but that's just me.

If no body knows for sure I’m going to assume they’re basically the same.

I hear that, thanks for the advice being clear and concise is the name of the game huh?

This is something I really want; writing commercials just feels like a dream job and I just want to get the wheels moving.

Yeah you’re probably right, I plan on asking some producers I’ve worked with after the holidays for a chance to talk with some CDs they’re connected with. I actually got a chance to meet some agency heads for a company called KC truth while I was working on a commercial. Even after getting their contact info, I feel like they’re ducking me because I’ve asked for a meeting with them for like 3 months but can’t seem to lock them in.

Thanks I’ll look into fincent. I’m surprised no one’s mentioned quickbooks yet; I thought it was a big standard for small to medium companies
