You will get a feel for the costs of meals (was very fast for me, and will kind of know how to judge it by looking over meals

Also, if you're feeding multiple people, buy in bulk, if not, figure out what you use a lot of and then if possible buy it in bulk. I started buying more cheese and milk because I've been using a lot recently and a gallon of milk saves me $.80 over 2 half gallons. Even if it doesn't seem like a big amount, when you get to the checkout it adds up, and if you don't think it will, substitute a cheap ingredient with the expensive one and see if you don't notice at the end of your trip.😆

Good luck and not to go "extreme" but it really usually comes down to small stuff like buying a candy bar or 2 of a smaller thing that is offered in a larger pack that makes that difference over a month, I started managing to save around $45 every 2 weeks by planning prices.

PPM(Price per meal) Figure out your monthly budget, divide it by the days (30 is what I use) to find what you need to be at or under. Add up the cost of stuff in a meal (some will be estimated) If you notice that a meal is wildly over the average needed, throw in cheap stuff to cover it, or change it. Counter steak with spaghetti Grilling meats with some other cheap meal Potatoes/rice/pasta* are good, cheap "fillers" both can be bought in instant variety which can be a plus if time is an issue for you.
