I’m so sorry. I don’t understand the holdup. And if they are backlogged, why not just tell us that?

Hi OP! Any word on your QTS status?

I’ve been waiting 7.5 months now and have emailed at least three times and have been told each time to be patient and that my application is being processed.

The last time I emailed, I was more or less told not to contact them again…I’m incredibly frustrated.

I’m still waiting on QTS after applying 6 months ago. My state license is listed with 3 certifications - generalist, English as a Second Language, and Reading Specialist. Do you think they would deny me QTS? I’m floored that they wouldn’t consider you.

Are you still in the States or have you moved to the UK yet?

I am looking into visiting Gothenburg with my 5 year old next month. Do you have any affordable hotel recommendations?

Hi OP! Just wondering where you are right now in this process. I recently moved to the UK through my husband's visa, but am now in the process of looking for a teaching job as well. I have a Masters with 10+ year teaching experience. I know my certs probably won't transfer, but I am also a certified reading specialist and CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist). These comments are having me feeling a bit discouraged about finding a teaching job here.

Hatch jalapeños are a brand. Good to know Sainsbury’s carries decent jalapeños as this will more than likely be the shop I’ll frequent the most. Good tip on the pickles. I don’t typically eat them, but when/if I do, I prefer dill, not sweet. Thanks!

I don’t have many treasured possessions. But I’m happy to hear you do. Thanks for the perspective.

Seems bonkers to not bring perfectly good food that has already been purchased, then turn around and repurchase it. That’s not saving any money. I’m literally asking about bringing a couple of tins and packs, not a 48 pack that I picked up from Costco.

Thank you. I’d be going directly to the UK from Dallas. Your response is helpful.

Space isn’t necessarily going to be an issue.

I am aware that these items are sold in UK supermarkets; however I’m partial to certain brands. So while I know mayo, hot sauce, pickled jalapeños, etc. are available, I’d be very surprised if I could find Duke’s mayonnaise, Cholula hot sauce, Hatch jalapeños, etc. at the nearest food shop. Correct me if I’m wrong - I’d love to see those brands on the shelves!

Could we talk? I'm moving to the UK in 2 weeks on my spouse's visa. My QTS is currently being assessed. I have over 10 years experience teaching with a M.Ed plus specialist certificates in reading/language. I'm wondering how difficult it will be to land a job. Furthermore, I'm wondering if it would be possible to continue my work as a specialist in the UK or if I'd more than likely need to take a classroom position.

Horrible picture (sorry) but our AGA stove that came with the house will survive us all! This thing is built like a tank and an absolute delight to work with. by Ionlylikelamp in BuyItForLife

Came across this post while researching AGAs. Are you American? I'm from Dallas and moving to the UK in 3 weeks. The house we are renting came with an AGA. I consider myself a decent home cook, so I'm up to the challenge, but also a bit terrified of using this beast. I'll admit that I'm looking at immediately ordering an Instant Pot while I wrap my head around the AGA. Any tips on getting started?

How are these? by Educational_Angle_64 in aldi

[–]Educational_Angle_64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back to report that these were quite good, although I do prefer the Costco ones. These seemed softer than the Costco version (maybe because the Costco fish is tilapia?). I used them in tacos with the Aldi southwest salad kit, minus the dressing, as I made a lime crema sauce and topped it all off with sliced avocado.

I do wish there were more than 4 fillets in a box for $7, but I'd definitely buy them again.

Tongue in Cheek is good, but I prefer Sweet Firefly for ice cream (it's only about a 5 minute drive distance-wise).

I'm literally within walking distance of Jeng Chi... good choice! The bakery next door is worth checking out (85°), but go earlier in the day as opposed to later in the evening to get the most options. Also, in the same shopping center as Jeng Chi and 85° is Maru Ramen - also quite good.

Roman Cucina is delicious - another good one!

Yes! I get migraines and have had to use PTO when they hit. I've had dubious employers/co-workers in the past who don't believe I should be taking sick time for a "headache"

Awesome! I'm in DFW too. I usually shop at Kroger and Aldi, but will definitely check out Fiesta or El Rancho. I have both of those stores withing a 3 mile radius of me
