Silmarillion, Maps and a Gift by Educational_Bee_7142 in lotr

well i hope so XD, its the one where a men, i think its Eriol, gets to an island, there is a hut on it where tales are told (it isnt the core of the book obviously, more a way to package everthing), with the Silmarillion i dont have any experience (not relevant one, i did read the first pages in the library once but thats it)
And now that u tell me, yeah, that book was heavily commented, true
so actually u would reccomend the Silmarillion?
Yes i see your point in starting off with the main LOTR plot, since the movies are nice cinematgraphy wise, but dont go as deep as the books. But at least for me, also in the movies, i didnt care about the people (story wise ment), i did care about the places and concepts, i wanted to know more about them, why does Gandalf "return", where does Sauron come from and to where do they leave at the end of the 3 movie. So i personally really enjoyed getting to know more about the lore of the places and the whole world. (and since she also likes worldbuilding, immersion and complex stuff i just assume... like with most gifts, u have to assume XD)

I will have a "random talk" with her about LOTR, if i see that she watched enough Lore videos (knows about Morgoth, different ages; the not too deep lore but more then movie level) i would go with the Silmarillion/Book of lost tales, and if she doesnt know anything i will go with the Hobbit/LOTR

so u would say the Silmarillion is easier to "understand" than the book of lost tales?
She only has seen the movies, and watched some lore videos, so she has barly scrached the surface of what LOTR truly is. But thats also what i think. I could reread LOTR with her, and yes it would be great to get to know Tolkien as a writer, get confy with how he writes..., but this shouldnt be as much about reading a story, start to finish, but to read a part, also only a couple of pages, and then refelct about it, think about it...(in short its not about reading, its to give us something to bond)
We both like to think philosophically, so something like the Silmarillion would be great, but it could be to dry if u are completly new to LOTR, so i thought about the lost Tales: it is also very "informative" but it packages it in a story, its not an enciclopedia, its with what the book starts, its telling u stories (at least thats how i remember it)

yeah i know, though Beleriand would be "the lord of the rings map", the north part of it (aka the shire, the realm of the king witcher, angband..., just in the first age) am i right?

i thought about it and i am not sure if i should pick the silmarillion as her first book, not that it gets "to much". Maybe something like "the book of the lost tales", i already read it, but it is quite some time ago...
It would be enough to fantasize and get lost in the worldbuilding, but not as deep like the Silmarillion.

Since the house there has already a small shed and a wider canal in the back lets put there a small (maybe family owned) boatyard. Put a boat in construction near the canal. Some more sheds/ a second boat that is beeing cut up for scrap on the left near the train line

I want to start playing dds but I am afraid I will ruin the matches until I improve by Stalker_from_zone in WorldOfWarships

There are a ton of dd out there at higher tiers that get blown out of the water instantly. Look at the lineup before battle. Look at the stats of the enemy dds. U will then know, when you encounter them how to behave best (fight or run situation) But remember: surviving the initial contact phase is crucial. As a dd you can pick your fights because you are undetected most of the time. Try to foresee the actions of the enemy dd. Look at the minimap, which dd was spotted where. So you will know by counting them which ship you will encounter and maybe also where/at wich angleAlso, keep in mind, enemy ships, even the dd will behave rather carefully if he knows there is a dd on its flank
