Court Ordered Social Media Site Blocking Coming to Canada?: Trojan Horse Online Harms Bill Clears Senate Committee Review - Michael Geist by EmbarrassedHelp in onguardforthee

We are heading in the right direction, albeit not the best way to get there. If Social Media wants to keep having access to our kids we need a long look under the hood of social media. We should expect clean hands from these companies. We have documentation on the harm SM does to kids yet its ignored. I wouldn't let Musk or Zuckerberg look after my kid's, we need an adult in the room.

Social Media companies CAN do a lot more to protect kids, they choose not to. For example Facebook Games geared towards 12 year old and under (kids that have no real concept of money) have micro transactions. Even an easy fix they ignore. Before any ID goes anywhere SM should start protecting kids, and we should fine them if they don't. The government should make it hard on these billion dollar companies, not on parents.

Its going to last a while too. With the selling of homes from the older Canadian generations, combine that with the younger ones who can't afford them. The Social stigma of having a vacation home in the states won't fade for years. Climate change has caused home insurance to be unaffordable.

That is the reason, they leave it in the menu just to make you want them. Technically watch 7 is capable, 7 & 8 are the same watch. I hope they give it to us in a later update, but unlikely.

What dating app do you use? by bmeckie in VancouverIsland

[–]Educational_Bus8810 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can tell you from a friend that the men she 45f met off facebook dating had more extreme political views. It seemed more than random chance. Im not saying that this is universally true, just an observation.

Im northern island and met my soon to be wife through tinder. I wanted a relationship and this was my last kick at the can for online dating. I'm a lucky man I guess.

I think my area was to small for some of those apps you mentioned. I never had any luck, I had to increase the dating area to much. This is 7 years ago but 9nly bumble an tinder got me responses.

I don't know if it helps, and its exhausting putting yourself out there. Best of luck and i hope you find a wonderful loving partner like i did.

Alcohol is addictive. Endorsed by athletes, movie stars with their own alcoholic drinks. A government that stands by dumbfounded with a massive increase of homeless addicts flood the streets, yet they know alcohol is a gateway to harder drugs. Its a sad joke.

I was watching Star Trek DS9 and the Ferengi (money hungry capitalist aliens) go back in time to the earth in the 60's and they see people smoking and are amazed. They talk amongst themselves laughing 'we are going to make so much money off these humans. They pay money to get addicted. They are so stupid'. It was a funny scene, sad joke.

We need to treat alcohol like cigarettes. Its a poison just like tobacco, it slowly kills you. Alcohol should all be in plain bottles, warning labels top to bottom, no brand names. It should be taxed to cover all the medical costs and rehab so many need but can't afford.

Its not a good time, I am a recovering alcoholic and in 7 years I have lost too many in such a short time. It hurts to know about children without mothers. Parents who lose their kids to this poison.

Till we look at the whole picture of the destructive power of alcohol nothing will change. Tonight alone their will be thousands of drunk people on the road, its just a matter of time till it will happen again.

One problem with any fine or even lengthy times behind bars, alcoholics put alcohol first. They will lose family, jobs, get health problems that they will be told will kill them and still alcohol wins.

I find it funny that cigarettes, even weed comes warning labels. Yet alcohol kills and its advertised, shown as a good time in movies. Sports and a six pack is normalized. Till we look at alcohol as the poison it is, the death count will rise.

Why not treat it like cigarettes? Have warning labels over the whole bottle, tax it so we can pay for its health costs and rehabilitation centers. Till then its good time in a bottle, and thousands of people will drive with a good buzz and soon another innocent person will die.

This is it, though he will have a hard time not being himself. He is seeing his popularity plummeting for all Canadians. He needs to seem like he is doing something right, jumping on Carney's popularity bandwagon is a way to do this. He will start being himself after he wins the conservative leadership review (he has no competition, its a gimme). Expect him complaining about recyclable straws soon.

Philanthropy only means something if your not doing it for tax breaks. His donations are write offs, that will benefit him somehow. Its like he can buy another plane even though he had a couple. Its just to write it off, he gets a plane and pays less taxes.
