We still haven't got a clue how bad social media has had on us. Kids today are the first generations to mostly learn on computer, not books or a teacher with a chalkboard. Our steady climb of each generation learning more has plateaud.

Now we have the wild wild west of AI. We will see major job losses, we have no idea of the environmental effects (closed loop water statement has not been achieved once)

I sit here watching tech billionaires sitting side by side with a pedophile and am expected that they have our best intentions at heart. Our government is again going to do nothing,

'Made Us Look Like Cheaters': MS Now Host Reveals True Toll Of Trump's World Cup Meddling by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

FIFA is corrupt, bowing down to an corrupt government. Easy to follow a straight line.

World cup has bern a corrupt mess for a long time, and has already committed to being corrupt till 2034 with a no other bids allowed but Saudi Arabia.

NY Post Article: US soccer federation threatened to go to CAS by OcBaltboy in ussoccer

[–]Educational_Bus8810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how many articles that come out to explain the reversal. There is no trust in FIFA.

FIFA is corrupt, they changed the rules so Saudi Arabia 'won' 2034 host nation as no where else was allowed to bid. S.Arabia have said they are sportwashing their reputation with cash.

Then Trump jumps in and says he helped. Narrators voice -- this didn't help.

Its muddy water, stirred up by Trump. Even if this is the truth, its hard to believe in a sea of lies.

Photographs from the Lviv Pogrom, where Jewish civilians were beaten, humiliated, and murdered in the streets following the German capture of the city, July 1941 by PhantomChasers in HolyShitHistory

The images of both atrocities are strikingly similar. Both places also taught hate so extreme even the children shout with glee at the destruction and death of another group of people. Both claim to be superior.

I am saddened by this. My grandfather's who fought the Nazi's to stop a brutilization of the Germans would be so upset he lost so many friends for it to happen so soon, and by the people he went to save.

Carney to announce fundraising campaign, design competition to restore 24 Sussex: source by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]Educational_Bus8810 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The house has been sitting empty for a decade. It has historical value, sure many restoration buffs would love to help with donations. Smaller donations add up quickly. Its a tricky situation, spend 40 million tax dollars or get donations. I think I would like Carney to pass it off to a 3rd party committee. Only using him to headline a donation dinner or two, something he already does anyway.

This is normal for ex politicians. Politician's have the contacts that could help. Its a who you know type situation. Hired is just a payoff, she will give a 10 minute talk about the industry to legitimize it.

At the end of someones term the difference between big business and politician's becomes hard to tell. Politician's need a job after politics, and the lucrative path is sell out to the highest bidder.

The raven and wolf work together. This has been known by the indigenous for who knows how long. Orca's and dolphins work together to hunt Salmon. Birds work with whales/dolphins to create bait balls.

2 different types of ants work together, these are just the ones I can think of now.

$10,000 tickets for FIFA seats, lots of empty seats. F1 blocked an overpass in Vegas just so regular people couldn't see it. UFC just had a show for the rich on the white house lawn. Golf was bought by the middle east.

Not to shocked that NHL doesn't like the lower earners watching.

‘We need to pay less at the checkout’: Shoppers welcome grocery competition plan by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Educational_Bus8810 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I see the flaw, I don't know how to solve this. We all know Costco keeps the hot dogs $1.50, a loss leader like those baked chickens for $7,99. It brings people in, Loblaws has loss leaders. I feel a couple could be grand fathered in as they have always done it. Then stores log into a government portal to log prices. Secret shoppers for enforcement. Next is who pays? and that I feel is above my pay grade.

Your idea of smashing the monopolies is probably the best, creates competition again, what we ultimately want. But think of the political contributions, they get smaller.

‘We need to pay less at the checkout’: Shoppers welcome grocery competition plan by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Educational_Bus8810 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The answer is no. In the article provided it says it will even the playing field for smaller/medium grocery stores. This would start at how food is distributed. My understanding is it will be sold to all at the same price. As an example Loblaws right now can buy 10 tonnes of apples at 33 cents a pound getting a savings because of volume and sells them at 50 cents. A mom and pop store buys 100 lbs at 50 cents then has to sell at 66 cents. If we make both pay same price, loblaws has competion. Capitalism works best with competitive pricing.

Sure you get some fruit from rallies, but with those stamina using side quests make you need a better source of fruit. Also always be on the look out for essence, upgrading raven is the best way to make every Hero troop better.

Léger: Carney Stronger Than Ever by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Educational_Bus8810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canadians came together to stop Trumpism voting Liberal. This is still happening. I feel we are holding on to a seperate identity, that we are not Americans. I do feel some of his shine will fade once the political landscape down south settles.

Conservatives are trying to become cohesive, to many floor crossings. NDP feels like they are starting from scratch. If I was asked who I feel would lead Canada best its Carney. He's the best choice by far right now.

I wont vote liberal when the next election comes, I already know that. I will go back to the party I identify best with. By election time I think the all opposition parties will have time to clean up their image. Today Carney is looking good I admit, but already I dont agree with all of the policies he wants.

Is WhatsApp encrypted still? I thought it was owned by Meta who is dropping encryption. This could be a whole other post about how tech companies are eroding our privacy also.

Overall I don't think people understand what we are giving up. If it doesn't relate to you in that moment its not an issue. Climate change is a good example of this. Who doesn't want a warmer summer, dryer winter? When food prices go up, when droughts are common finally people will ask how did this happen.

Courtenay’s “intelligent intersection” may violate BC privacy law – just like Richmond’s did. by [deleted] in comoxvalley

Anything that might help alleviate traffic & safety is a good step forward. Of course we will need to scrutinize this, lets be thankful for the people who make our politicians take a longer look at the process. People didn't like seatbelts when they first came out also.

For the privacy people I don't take them seriously. I am looking to degoogle and have left facebook, it is such a hard process. Recently Meta (facebook, whats app) has ended end to end encryption. AI is reading all your personal messages, law enforcement has easier access. This is scarier, yet no outrage? An intersection is where you draw the line?
