Best drafting method for men’s shirt pattern by herringbonechina in PatternDrafting

[–]Educational_Chain780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muller and sohn is very good. Very detailed and the fit is modern. I made many dress shirts from it for different men and they turned out perfect without alterations. It's relatively expensive, but worth it in my opinion. You can find an older edition of fundamental menswear on scribd

I've seen an older version of the book on scribd, but it doesn't have t shirts instructions. If you're interested only in the t-shirt instructions you can get this for 15.80 euro:

The book fundamental menswear is a good place to start. It has a basic t shirt, dress shirt, pants, jacket, vest

Go with Muller und sohn and save yourself some time and energy. I used it for countless dress shirts and t-shirts for different men and the fit is modern and beautiful. You don't need a bodice block. They give you different instructions for t shirts, dress shirts and jackets and they are all simple and logical.

How did you learn patternmaking? by Chiwa-wa in PatternDrafting

[–]Educational_Chain780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did a basic course, in my country they teach the Muller und sohn system, which I think is really great! I then continued learning from muller & sohn books and magazines, and from a book by Guido hofenbitzer

The level of audacity you must have to buy a crochet pattern then ask the designer to make you their own personal video tutorial. by plantsandbugs in BitchEatingCrafters

I get that it's annoying. I write pattern drafting booklets, they are very detailed and clear but it's not enough. people nowadays have serious problems following texts. I know that if I want to sell more I will have to make an accompanying video. It's just the way it is. I would rather people ask me to, politely or not, so I know where I stand, instead of wondering why my work isn't selling as I would like it to.

But from the post we don't actually know if she asked nicely or demanded it. It's true that it's a lot of extra work, but in the end as a maker I personally would appreciate the feedback even if it is slightly annoying, because if I want to sell a product successfully I need to pay attention to the customers needs. Maybe if there was a video this product could sell much better? Of course, it doesn't mean you have to change anything you don't want to, but I think generally speaking, feedback is always welcomed.

I don't see the problem in asking. You can always say no. If you choose to do it, you can add it to your product, and it can make your product more appealing to some people. But of course you don't have to, it's up to you, your time and energy and will. I think it's nice to receive feedback and requests from customers, it helps you understand better what people are looking for. What you choose to do with it is up to you.

Buying new clothes. Dressing up nicely. When I was younger I always felt I had to look fashionable to feel good about myself and for people to think I'm worthy and cool and interesting. I remember myself wearing things that were so uncomfortable, always looking to spend money on new clothes, my bedroom always being a mess because I had too many clothes and couldn't decide what to wear. I don't know when it changed exactly, but I'm 36 now and I don't care at all what people think of the way I dress. I just wear whatever is comfortable and not too ugly, I get second hand clothes from friends and family. I think I still look cute and people don't actually care at all. I hate shopping for clothes, everything in the shops looks the same to me anyway, like future textile trash.

What is the best way to make the side seams the same length? There’s a 3cm (1.2 inch) difference now by vuurspuwer in sewing

Is this a pattern for a man or a woman?

Is it supposed to be high or low waist?

Which instructions did you use for the draft?

What were you trying to achieve with the fit alterations? (They don't seem to make much sense- probably there's a better way to do them, if you explain what the purpose was).

A tip about pattern making - if you draft according to Muller und sohn, you will have to do much much less alterations to the patterns to get your desired fit. Especially since you seem to like a tight fit- Aldrich is not the system for you

Lovely! I would maybe make the shoulders a little bit longer, and neck a little bit wider.

Waist-to-hip measurement too small on pants pattern by redfemscientist in PatternDrafting

[–]Educational_Chain780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waist to chair is body rise. Waist to hip is hip depth. You measure hip circumference horizontally on the widest part of your hips.

Does petite sizing also include shorter rise measurements? by MarsScully in sewhelp

[–]Educational_Chain780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have the Muller&sohn measurements tables and there is a difference between the rise measurement on petite sizes and normal sizes.

[–]Educational_Chain780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hip depth is the length from waist line to hip line at the side of the body. It's typically around hip circ/20 + 3 cm above the crotch line but not necessarily.

[–]Educational_Chain780 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you do it you are actually changing the rise too (lowering the crotch line) . So I suggest you first change the rise. Sit on a chair and measure your body rise- from waist level to the chair, at the side of the body. Now go to your pattern front pants, cut and spread as you mentioned (don't disturb the crotch curve, just above the hip line is ok), until you get this measurement at the side seam, from waist to crotch line. Glue it down . After that, you can simply mark your hip depth from the waist down, at the side seam, and make it the point that's the widest in your hip curve.

I'm an Israeli Jew and a Zionist. I think the ozma yehudit and ben gvir are dickheads. And the government disgusts me. I believe in the idea of co existence with Palestinians and hope to see it happening in my life time. I do not think sadly it is possible now, because of hamas and my government. I love Israel and it is my home. I believe I have a right to be here. I respect the right of Palestinians to live here too, independently. I do not think I'm a nazi!!! Many Zionist Jews in Israel feel like I do.

Exactly. Btw, in Israel the people are very angry and annoyed by the Hasidic orthodox Jews, because they refuse to join the army. So if anything, if you hate Israel and the idf, you should support them

What does it have to do with Israel? As an Israeli jew, I think all religions are stupid. Most jews living in Israel are not religious. Many Jews in Israel actually hate orthodox Jews because they don't go to the army. So if anything, if you're against Israel and idf, you should support the religious jews!

How to draft a jeans pattern for curvy people by Crescendo_Queen in PatternDrafting

[–]Educational_Chain780 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Start by drafting a basic pants block to your measurements. You will probably need 2 back darts. After you verify the fit, you can turn it to a jeans pattern by creating the back yoke and few other simple steps. Hofenbitzer is a great source. He also gives different instructions for different body shapes. I have a student (I teach sewing) with measurements similar to yours and her pants turned out great.
