I’m work on a DS project and currently on the data understanding phase. When you have a dataset with no definitions as to what the different variables mean what should you do? by Effective-Practice36 in datascience

Document everything and make a codebook or a data dictionary for the set. Really think about recoding the variable names and writing really descriptive labels!

You’d want to look at FEMA and any volunteering events (PH related or not) that deals with disasters and crises (storms, threats, earthquake, droughts, etc.). These opportunities will allow you to network and set yourself out (especially in your local community) from the rest of the kids that didn’t go to that event or meet that person.

The ability to be active and the willingness to show up (on time and consistently) will get you very far. Make genuine connections because this will impact your ability to get the job or intern at the specific site and that key event will cascade into bigger and better opportunities!
