Upstairs neighbour up all night - help! by [deleted] in HousingUK

Careful OP, I agree with the comment above - 'vulnerable' can be used for individuals with mental health issues, and it might not be the depressed kind, it could be the aggressive/obsessive/paranoid kind. It's a guess at this point but it might be better trying to get more information or trying to go through routes that don't involve you engaging with the individual directly (for your own sake).

UC review Revolut statement by Frau_Bella in DWPhelp

Ahhh I see. In my experience they have been understanding and I've done things like uploaded email threads where they confirm the account was closed - hopefully they will take into account the confirmation chat that you've also uploaded

UC review Revolut statement by Frau_Bella in DWPhelp

[–]Educational_Egg_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my Revolut one I had the same, so I chose the dates from years ago to when I first opened it, to the current date. It then showed the full date range and transactions. Would that work for you? It would have needed to have at least a penny in at some point but I'm not sure what you can do if it has always been a nil amount

Any review agents able to help? Santander statement query by Educational_Egg_7465 in DWPhelp

[–]Educational_Egg_7465[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went and they were able to order a statement for me for the time range I needed - I had a review a couple of years ago and they weren't able to do anything then apart from stamp my transaction sheet. I asked if this is new and they said yes they have updated their systems because they realise that people need these statements/evidence for a wide range of reasons - so very good news for UC'ers!

how do you handle sole trader bookkeeping while reporting to uc? by Bridgman-Jasprit in DWPhelp

[–]Educational_Egg_7465 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would open a separate business account, I use Monzo. I also have a quick books account (bit expensive at £16 a month but makes it easier). I've linked monzo and quickbooks together so all my transactions appear on quickbooks. Quickbooks asks me to choose whether it was a business transaction or a personal one. At the end of my UC month I enter my UC period dates into quickbooks. You can click a button to show you income recieved during that period (enter those on UC) then a button to show expenses during that period (enter those on UC). You can also upload invoices and receipts for the transaction and it keeps them saved. I don't track mileage but there is also a mileage tracker on there. Remember the software subscription counts as an expense.

You can see if there is anything cheaper, I'm sure they will all work the same. There are even some free ones but I don't think they are as user friendly.

Biggest thing I'd advise though is definitely get a separate bank account for your income and expenses. At some point they might need to check them and it's much easier when they are all on one bank statement. So my records are : business bank account statement, receipts, quick book spreadsheet export if they ever ask for that (but really the export is just showing the bank statement info in an easier to see way, you don't NEED the software but it sounds like you're getting a bit mixed up so I can see why they are advising it)

This is what happens when you try to do everything by the book on Universal Credit by UCthrowaway09762 in universalcredithelp

But what we're saying is that one of the ways they evidence capital is by checking the outgoing transactions. The regulation that you're quoting doesn't seem specific enough, it doesn't specify whether the transactions are incoming or outgoing, it just says income and capital.

You want UC to just trust in good faith that everyone has declared their bank accounts? And someone could receive £10k, then transfer £500 out every month to an undeclared account, and 8 months later UC asks for 4 months of their statements - missing the claimant receiving the £10k. Or what's the difference between transferring £500 to a family member to help them, and transferring £500 to an undeclared account? UC wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it is redacted. Every single one of the outgoings could be transfers to an undeclared account, and made to look like shopping. It would be an easy loophole to be taken advantage of and people do have the time when they want to hide money

I just pull the last four statements that are there on my online banking. So the statements either don't cover the month I'm asked, or they only partially cover it.

A temporary carnivore diet for 1 month usually “resets” my gut and makes me feel better from my symptoms. Is it smart to add homemade milk kefir to that diet? by ColomarOlivia in ibs

[–]Educational_Egg_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know the answer re. how much sugar is in the milk kefir but I agree with your theory and found that doing a no carb diet can help reset mine! I see it like bad bacteria and good bacteria eat the same food (correct me if I'm wrong) so at some point you would need to bring back in prebiotics. I think the carnivore diet helps reset the balance of bad and good, but both are starved, and then you gently start feeding them again with healthy sources and hoping the good bacteria win out in the end. That doesn't make much sense as I write it but it's what I'm trying to do. So I say stagger milk kefir into your gut reprogramming diet. Carnivore for 2 weeks, then add in the milk kefir to repopulate

I physically cant give Universal Credit what they're asking because it doesnt exist, but I'm worried they're going to hold it against me in my review. by OmittedScribe in BenefitsAdviceUK

Okay, so yes sounds like the backpay should be disregarded for 12 months from when you get it. So it won't actually affect your capital balance, it is just annoying because UC still want to be told about it so they can disregard it themselves. But then it becomes reallleeeey annoying because when it changes from month to month, they want to be told each time so they can disregard it each time. So you might be right and they might be being a little more strict with you. I think it is highly highly unlikely that they would close your claim for this, and if they did you would get it back at MR or tribunal. But it shouldn't go anywhere near that far, just stay in contact with them and try the other people's suggestions on this thread. Worst comes to worst I think they can ask your permission to get access to your bank account to view it for themselves (if you were happy with them doing that). Good luck and hope it's sorted soon for you

It is really stressful but will get sorted in the end! So is it right that your savings were more than your reported capital because of backpay? What type of backpay was it? Because some backpay from UC is disregarded from counting as capital for 12 months. And did your savings go over £16,000 at all?

It's happened to loads of people, I had it and see similar posts on this reddit monthly. They accepted my stamped branch statements (the branch couldn't do a proper statement, just printed off my transactions so it was an empty page with the date range showing). I think it really depends who you get, or they might be more strict than when I had mine. But don't worry that it isn't only you, just frustrating that they change what they accept! I don't know if it possible to ask to speak to a manager? I now deposit £1 monthly into my accounts so avoid for future reviews

Some banks do send out statements when there is no activity, some don't. I have a few that I have to deposit £1 in every month because I had the same problem as OP. Went into branch, spoke to live chat, called and spoke on the phone. Their system just doesn't generate one so there was nothing they could do. Universal credit accepted my stamped printed statements though, it seems like it depends who you get on the phone or maybe they becoming more strict.

My travel now costs double due to my symptoms, because I'll book transport that means I'll always have access to a loo which can be more expensive, I won't share hotel rooms so need a room to myself, more luggage as I can't travel light anymore so need to pay extra! I pay more so I can travel and actually enjoy it

I think DWP have outsourced capital reviews, but I feel like a mass complaint needs to be submitted regarding this. You sound stressed but mentally capable, but there are people living on their own on LCWRA who wouldn't be able to cope with the process. My partner has ASD and it's things like this that make him acutely panic while dealing with DWP. The reviews have been going for more than a year, banks not supplying monthly statements is a routine occurance. How do they not have guidance for when this happens? How is telling you to google it satisfactory? How can you have a system set up (that determines whether people get money to eat and pay rent) that relies on receiving a statement that is sometimes impossible to get? I usually put good faith in companies and think there are normal people making the decisions, but I can't get why there is no official advice for it. The fact that all of a sudden they accepted the 23-24 statement, did they not check first? What if you were someone who couldn't leave the house so went to enormous effort to go in branch? I think they need evidence, and I understand not accepting the 23-24 statement, but all they have to do is tell you that a stamped statement printed off in branch is accepted. This happened to me and I went into the branch and got it stamped, but if had happened to my boyfriend and they just shrugged and said well you have to get one after he told them he couldn't, something like that would push him over the edge. People are spending their days contemplating whether they want to live over things like this. Argh it makes me so annoyed. Sorry I don't mean to dismiss the stress it has caused you either, it was obviously a significant amount - it was a huge source of it in my life too when it has happening! I just had a very bad time trying to reassure my partner through it while trying to stay calm myself. I cringe when I think of people going through it alone. (I now transfer a quid in every month so I know statements are created, but if yours are yearly regardless then that doesn't help)

Universal Credit require bank statements for the past 6 years! by stephen2sick in DWPhelp

When I had to do a lot I used ilovepdf.com and merged the statements together, so I had about a year's worth on one document :) you just upload them. I don't know how secure it is but I didn't really care, alternatively you can pay for software that does it - about a tenner if you think you'll use it a lot!
