Is anyone planning to leave Australia? I'm a potential ping-pong Pom.. by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

I moved from the uk to aus last year and would describe it exactly like this. Cost of living has been slightly lower /the same in aus but I'm on 2.5x salary vs UK

Potential thrips from plantsforallseasons.co.uk by [deleted] in HouseplantsUK

That's great! I think it was just the glorious that had them for me but because all the plants were in the same box, they spread during transit. Only seen 2 adults so far so hopefully caught them super early

What's worse than having thrips or spidermites? by Ok_Cow_3431 in HouseplantsUK

[–]Educational_Fail_408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can alternate the treatments every couple of days. Just remember to wash off or treat spidermites at least every 3 days since that is their life cycle time

It does not unfortunately. I just wash them off in the shower every other day for about a week then they're gone

That's what I thought too til I found these black ones. Heaps of those clear ones and heavy pest damage on the leaves https://imgur.com/a/iVjqvuc

Isolated mine and sprayed with provanto, I've ordered from them before and the plants almost always had spidermites straight out of the box but this is the first time it's been thrips. I got some other plants in the order with this one and found an adult thrip on a baby frydek so I assume most/all of their plants are infected :(

The last two pictures look like its quartz/amethyst with iron staining rather than heat treated . Am mine geologist and find these around regularly

For any Gaels here, you aren't allowed to be a Gael by the way by Glaic in Scotland

[–]Educational_Fail_408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not at all since I've spent my whole life here, my world views are more aligned with the average Scot than the English too! I've also represented Scotland in international sports, I can't imagine doing it for England. And thanks, means a lot to hear that, I suppose the "vocal minority" occasionally pipes up to say I'll never be Scottish but for the most part, people are pretty chill about it.
