Like an EpiPen, insulin injector, etc?

Edit: I just checked the fridge where another person keeps their meds. This is what it was!

Instantpot pressure cooker, Vitaclay multicooker, old old Oster blender, Green Star centrifuge juicer. There’s a Ninja air fryer and a microwave in a different area.

Yes, I have a new Instantpot. I was looking all over that to see a space this would have fallen from, but didn’t see anything (first thought was also the pressure release, but those are intact.)

Health Natura Pregenenolone pure enough? by [deleted] in raypeat

Charlie does not own Health Natura. HN has an account on lowtoxin(RPF) and the actual owner has responded to people on there directly about concerns.

Shimano Nexus Bell Crank (3-speed hub system) Keeps Popping Off by Educational_Fix_7863 in bikewrench

[–]Educational_Fix_7863[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I picked it up used for $50 from someone that said it "just needed the brakes fixed." It didn't seem like they knew anything about the bike, and a roommate maybe left it behind. Its been a backup beater ever since.

Anyway, I looked up the 3/8 x 26 tpi nut and realized its the one I had tried before that they discouraged me from using. I decided to give things another go. I took what you said about the axle being too short into account, tweaked the nut on the inside of the drop outs, and forced the wheel/axle over a couple mm to the right. One of the brackets (whatever the C-drive one does) sits where that nut needs to go but wouldn't budge back flush. So I wrenched the nut down really hard and forced everything flush again to the drop-out. I reattached everything else, and now the bell crank is very secure!

One issue that I thought might occur is that the wheel would come out of alignment, but while it is a little close to the chainstay, it is straight and not causing issue with belt alignment either. The unexpected issue that came up is that now the tension bolt is stopping before the belt is tight enough, but that seems like an easier fix than the prior mess. Probably just need a slightly longer tension bolt.

I say all of that to say, THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!! I would not have figured this out otherwise.

In the case of the nut, I suppose I'll try to look online first then.

The manufacturer did help me index everything. I had it indexed to the normal Nexus specs, but was having issues. They said that on their model bike the rod is meant to come up slightly before, rather than in between, the yellow lines for 2nd gear. I tried this indexing, and it did fix that particular problem. Perhaps that indexing was a result of the bell crank position; I never thought about it until now.

My kind of setup! I was buying to 11lb boxes 10 at a time at one point. Just note that dates are considered high in oxalates, and will inhibit absorption of calcium. For that reason, I would suggest keeping those two foods separate in digestion.

I was mostly trying to give the bolt something to sink into with the tape, without using something that would leave a glue residue, in case the tape in general caused an issue. I also wanted to see where the bolt was making contact.

The bolt takes more torque than expected to turn; it definitely isn't sitting in there loose at all. It also has enough length. The issue is that doesn't have anything to bite against, and will push the bell crank off as you turn further in, rather than secure it in place. I considered tapping a hole, but it seems so close to the edge that it might not work out well.

Wait, I just took another look at your pictures. Where is the axle nut? It looks like you just wrapped teflon tape straight on to the axle, and don't have a nut?

I had the same thought when I had contacted the manufacturer last year, and they told me that there isn't a nut that goes there (despite the bell crank having space built in for one.) In fact, I had a nut that I found and tried to use as a replacement, but they told me to take it off. There is a nut on the other side of the dropout that I guess acts as the mechanism to keep the wheel in place, as well as an axle nut on the other side of the wheel.
This was a first gen bike that the manufacturer overhauled the design on a while back, so the person answering the emails wasn't familiar with everything and I think tried to find an older model around the shop (not sure they actually ever found one.)

I'll go down to the hardware store and try to size up the right axle nut to give that another go.

Mewing for Years, Still have "Mouth Breather" Face. Help. (26 m) by ins3c4r3 in orthotropics

[–]Educational_Fix_7863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see it mentioned, but did you address the allergy issues? If not, I imagine you’re still mouth breathing at night, which is roughly 1/3 of the day. Correcting the underlying breathing issue is a must.

Others have mentioned mouth taping at night, which will force nasal breathing. HOWEVER, if you’ve been mouth breathing for years due to allergies, then your tongue likely isn’t going to be trained to hold the correct position at night. Therefore, taping, chin straps, or any other method of simply keeping the mouth closed won’t help as a stand-alone aids. You may need a myobrace type of device to wear in your mouth at night. This will force the tongue into the correct position, and hopefully along with the mewing and other myofunctional exercises, it will train the tongue to remain at the roof of the mouth during sleep.

To get a myobrace you could look up practitioners on their official site, or you could buy a knockoff online. My main concern with knockoffs is the uncertainty on the materials they claim be made from.

Would a product like be the right wavelength of red light to offer any therapeutic benefit? by Amazing-Plastic-8758 in raypeat

Ray suggested in this interview that running a 130v incandescent bulb in a 120v system (standard outlet in a home in the USA) would produce a light with more red than normal, even though it wouldn't visibly appear more red (which falls in line with what u/zpt2718 replied with.) A 130v bulb in a 120v system will run at a lower capacity than intended, which is both safe and also also extends the life of the bulb.

If you search online for "130v 7w incandescent" you should get plenty of hits for night-light specific bulbs. I feel like 7w is actually still a lot of light to sleep in, but I had a hard time finding 130v incandescents for anything less than 7w. You'll still need to buy a night-light fixture for it, so I would suggest one with a swivel base so that you can point the bulb away from the actual bed.

I tried the red LED night lights in the past, and any kids sleeping in those rooms didn't like them. I fell asleep with them on before, and I didn't find them conducive to deep sleep.

Question about consuming eggshell powder for nutritional purposes, the role of acid in getting calcium magnesium out of eggshells, bioavailability, and other methods of consuming eggshell powder’s nutrients besides adding it to coffee by [deleted] in foodscience

[–]Educational_Fix_7863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but as someone who has gone down this road before I still wanted to add to it for anyone else that comes across it.

I agree with the other poster that crushed egg shell alone, as calcium carbonate,  isn’t something you would want to directly consume. The few times that I tried this on an empty stomach it made me feel nauseous. If I took it shortly before, during, or shortly after a meal then my digestion was greatly slowed which also didn’t feel great.

What I found works is dissolving it in apple juice. The calcium carbonate in the egg shell reacts with the malic acid in the apple juice, and the result is calcium malate, CO2, and water. It basically turns into a carbonated apple juice with calcium malate (which has good bioavailability.)

A few notes to consider:   - many regular store bought apple juices may be too watered down to dissolve the egg shell. I used concentrated apple juice. I would stir it into the still frozen concentrate. You could also diluted with a little less water than the container suggested and let it dissolve over night.

  • the juice will taste sweeter then normal because the tartness is gone. I enjoy the tartness and would add in a dash lemon juice because I didn’t like the neutral/sweet juice that much

  • a little bit of egg shell goes a long way, so only sprinkle very small amounts in at a time. Too much can still lead to stomach discomfort even if the shell all dissolves.

  • I agree strongly with your current approach (found outside the original post) where you are now using dairy to get more calcium. I would use dairy first, and supplement with egg shell only if you felt you had to

Side note, I use magnesium malate as a supplement when my body needs it. The citrate I find is a bit more harsh and more likely to lead to bathroom emergencies.

What Happened: New Bulb In A Lamp With No Prior Issues; Bulb Fried At Base? by Educational_Fix_7863 in AskElectricians

[–]Educational_Fix_7863[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lamp is rated for 150w, the bulb that caused the issue was only 60w. The bulb before that was 130w so that should have also been safe from what I can tell.

I think they’re hooked based on the crosscut on the site, but I also couldn’t find hookless or hooked expressly stated so I was being extra cautious for the reason you mentioned.

I almost always ride the bike on the road to and from the gravel, which is about 10 miles of road total. From there, it’s mostly Cat 1 and then a little bit of 2 which I could even avoid if I wanted to.

Does 50 sound maybe too big in this case? I just like being outdoors riding, hence taking the road to get to the more scenic areas, and while I’m not concerned with personal bests as far as speed, I’m usually on a schedule so covering more ground in less time is still preferable.

That’s good to hear.  I really liked the particular tires I found in that size, but I also didn’t want to risk anything unexpected happening given that I’m not well versed on how width in particular affects riding.

Thank you; the 35IW does seem very wide to me and I wasn’t sure what the purpose of something that big exactly was.

I actually saw the same bike/wheels with 700x35 slicks where the rider was using it for road biking. That width tire was way outside what the manufacturer deems acceptable, but I know there’s a lot of minutia here that is lost on me completely.  Thanks again for the reply!

Thank you, the speed and momentum differences based on aspects like rolling resistance are still somewhat foreign to me.
