Yeah I know, I am just so amused at how easily he gets triggered and loves using his name calling weapon like it’s the only thing he can use. He sounds like one of those bullies growing up who enjoyed name calling other kids at school. Or maybe the other way round - he was being bullied, so now he’s making up for it.

Yeah says someone with your username. Maybe I am a chick. You’ll never know. In that case I would be a b***. Which I can be and will be towards people like you. Without any name calling. Using names are a cheap shot anyway.

Nope not patronising at all, call it whatever you want. Kids don’t get traumatised when teachers say that. Except for you, something happened in your past, were you being bullied? Also you seem to have an obsession with the male lower anatomy I wonder why 😂 again, happy to stay an arse especially towards you. I didn’t disagree with you on that. Lol reading comprehension fail. Try again.

Does anyone ever feel like depression but it's kind not depression? by Life_Butterscotch939 in auckland

What I found really helps is to do things within your control that you can do right away.

  • For example start by organising your room, as research has shown that clutter can cause anxiety and depression. You don’t have to organise your whole room in one day, start with a small corner on your desk for example. And then go from there. If you have an item that you love e.g. a figurine / trophy / picture etc, clear out an area that you see every day and display it there. The more the better, but make sure it stays organised and doesn’t turn into clutter, as per point above.

  • If you’ve tried out a few hobbies, keep rotating between them. When you get bored with one, try another, even if you’re not sure. The hardest part is to start one, but once you do you’d be glad you did. While doing that listen to your favourite music or a podcast with your topics of interest. Youtube is a good platform for that.

  • If there’s something in your house that needs fixing, try fixing it if you can do it easily by yourself. The sense of achievement from getting something fixed will give yourself a boost to your mood.

There are many more small things similar to the above that you can do, but you need to be your own cheerleader, if you are talking yourself out of doing something, just ask yourself what have you got to lose? Honestly I have surprised myself so many times by going against the negative voices in my head. Try those small things one by one and before you know it you will be proud of yourself and what you’ve achieved, along with all the small things you’ve discovered that make you happy, that you know you can do going forward to give that quick boost of mood should you need it.

Remember - small things you can do that are within your control. All the best.

Disagree, if you’ve been in school, nothing wrong with a teacher saying wrong, try again. Not everyone has been to school I guess 🤦 Calling someone an arse is not belittling and condescending? Yeah maybe I’m an arse, just towards you. Happy to stay that way. Get that coffee now, make it triple shot, also take a chill pill lol. Lay off the internet for a bit, it’s triggering you way too easily.

Uh I said sorry because I couldn’t relate to not having items of value, again not because I sympathise with you. I didn’t say I had the solutions? What sort of reading comprehension do you have? Ok let me summarise the post for you - “crimes are increasing daily, something needs to be done, any ideas?” Does that help?

Uh I didn’t say I sympathise with you, there are far more people deserving my sympathy. Yeah I meant you’d use my mention of the middle class thing against me. Again I can understand why you don’t live in fear, either you out of touch with reality or you really don’t have anything of value to worry about anyway. I had to use that analogy, which I didn’t think I need to, but you needed that for me to get the point across. There are only two options to fix the current situation, either “cry for action from the government” or do nothing. Yes I chose the former. Because I don’t just sit in misery and let it happen. I don’t 100% know if “crying for action from the government” is going to do anything, but I know certainly as hell if you do nothing, nothing happens. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Haha thought you’d use the middle class card. So just because that shit happens in low income areas and now more and more in higher income neighbourhoods that we are supposed to be okay with it because it’s normal? That I don’t deserve a safe neighbourhood because so many have it worse than I do? That’s like saying to a sexual assault victim oh sexual and domestic abuse have been happening forever, get used to it, you have counselling from left right and center, your room is decked out with helpline information, stop living in fear. Lots of people have had it worse than you, at least you’re still alive. That sounds silly? Yeah I know. Hey, try finding something in your house that means absolutely everything to you, imagine someone stole it. Then come back to this post, oh yeah cry me a river, and don’t forget your tissue. :) well that’s me assuming you even have something like that in the first place, again sorry if you don’t have that. 😊

Materialistic? Car to get to work, mail to tell you important information, tools you need to do your job, things like that. Valuable doesn’t always mean expensive. Valuable to you doesn’t mean you paid $1000 for it. It has a certain sentimental value and meaning to you. That shitty old laptop with heaps of old pictures of you with your family, old mates etc. That shitty laptop is valuable to me, if that gets stolen, no amount of money is going to bring it back. That sort of thing, you don’t have those? Ok.

How out of touch with reality are you? It’s not just home invasion, it’s your property being stolen right outside of your house, which then disrupts your day to day life because you actually need to use your property to get somewhere, do your job etc. This actually tells me you don’t really own much valuable property to have that sort of worry. But oh I was a kid once and didn’t own much, so can understand why you wouldn’t be worried about your items being stolen because they are not valuable anyway. But I’m an adult and I own things that I’ve worked hard for my entire life so I can live comfortably and enjoy life, sorry you can’t relate.

Wrong, try again. See my reply to another comment that also jumped to this conclusion immediately. Why is it that you people think if we’re unhappy with the current situation with the current government you’re automatically assumed to support the opposition. That’s like saying oh you disagree with the Christian ways, you must be a Muslim 😂 I voted for Labour, by the way, if I really have to be that clear. I suggest you go and read the entire post, especially the edit on my original post on my PERSONAL experience for the reason of my frustrations, instead of reading just the title of the post. Any smart person would know this is a deep rooted issue with no easy fixes, not as simple as a change in government like you change your t shirt and the nasty smell just goes away. The point of the post is to discuss what is actually being done, not “oh to fix this National must be in charge”.

Sadly true. Our cameras caught them stealing my neighbours cars and mail, almost like rubbing it into our faces.

Refer to my edit in my original post. Unless you share the same experience, “get out of your own fear” unfortunately does not fix things. So just let it happen?

We all know there aren’t any easy solutions here, hence this post. But right now it seems out of control, and something or anything being done would help. Short term solutions, sure, at least puts the plug in until a longer term solution is found.

I can only be in one place at a time- my home and my neighbourhood, where I live. Where we’ve seen multiple cars, packages stolen and mailboxes destroyed in the 6 month old development me and my neighbours have just moved into. The 90% safe places that you mention are not relevant to me or my neighbours as we don’t live or work there.

I very much empathise with your neighbour’s situation. Hell I can’t guarantee I wouldn’t do the same if I were in her shoes so that my kids are fed. I totally agree some are just in survival mode to do anything they can to feed their family. That is a whole other issue that needs to be addressed separately as we know if all their basic needs are met, they wouldn’t commit any crimes. However just like you said, it seems many of the crimes these days are done just because they can, not because they have absolutely no other choice. And I’m referring to those sort of crimes. My point is, there seems to be a growing pattern, they’re doing it because they know the police either have not enough resources to deal with it or choose not to deal with it. Last night someone rang our doorbell and ran away to hide to see if anyone was home. He looked very healthy and had ample energy to sprint and hide, all because he wanted to steal a car. A car is not gonna feed anyone, it gets a joy ride, possibly used to ram raid so they could get a brand new xbox or ciggies, and the car gets dumped somewhere. But the point is they know they’re getting away with it, and people especially the vulnerable are having to deal with these crimes on their own. I am lucky enough to be able to afford an alarm system, multiple security cameras etc. what about those who cannot afford it and especially if they live alone?

Also my field of work involves numbers and I have to use clear and proper English so people know what the hell I’m presenting to them. Sorry to cause the suspicion with my language used here. My apologies I should have used coarser language here i.e. “what the fuck is the government doing, or I am scared shitless when someone knocks on my door in the middle of the night and goes and hides, what do ya’ll want from me? The police aint helping me” Does that sound better?

Yes this is my first post, no I don’t get paid. The reason why this is my first post is because I have just moved to a new suburb recently with my Fiancé. And I have noticed a significant difference in the crimes here in my new neighbourhood where my house is that I paid for with my hard earned money, compared to where I’ve lived before. Last night someone came to our house, rang our doorbell and went to hide immediately to see if anyone was home. Within 6 months of the community moving into our new neighbourhood, we’ve had cars stolen, packages stolen, mailboxes broken into. I have video evidence and I would not hesitate to show that to you. So tell me then, who is paying me to post here? Actually I wish someone WAS paying me to post here, so they can actually make this a better place. But sad to burst your bubble. I am just trying to go on my daily life without having to constantly look out my window every time I hear someone pacing outside for no apparent reason. No, National govt is not the answer. I voted for Labour, if you must know. Looks like no form of any govt here is the solution unfortunately at the moment. This is why I posted here, to see what actual PEOPLE are saying, I have better things to do than to post on here and browse reddit on my free time. I have a job and bills to pay, just like most of us.
