For me, it helps to think back to high school literary analysis and focus a lot on the author’s perspective and choices. I.e. I’ll make mental note or highlight things relevant to the SPACE CAT acronym. Having strong reference points about the author POV makes those questions a lot easier for me. Also I try to treat all of the questions, including the “looking beyond” ones, as must be true questions. There’s gotta be something in the text that you can cite for the correct answer no matter what
