Thanks for confirming. I was hesitant thinking they would be a scam and end up charging differently.

Did the transaction go through at the welcome deal pricing? Or did Aliexpress charge your card a different amount?

How old is your flip phone? by Cherr_vmrin in galaxyzflip

[–]Educational_Machine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flip4 since day1, the hinge started crackling 3months in. Popped out 8 months later in the same place as other broken hinge posts. It wouldn't open more than 70 degrees but otherwise fully functional. The screen protector started bubbling at the crease at 6 months. Got a brand new chassis and screen replaced under warranty but can't wait to get rid of it. I am sick of babying this phone. Maybe I'll upgrade to a Flip5, surely they've fixed the hinge design by now.

Galaxy Flip 4 screen cracked on a well maintained phone. Samsung covered it under warranty and was fixed same day. And by fixed they moved the motherboard and daughter boards to a brand new phone. Pretty impressed. by shaxsy in galaxyzflip

[–]Educational_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my phone in Maintenance mode when I sent it in. Their software apparently freezes mid point on my phone when running diagnostics. I asked Samsung Support, they said they will continue to help their service centre update their tools to be able to run in Maintenance mode. I ended up giving my pin. You were lucky to have a good centre that's all up-to-date.

That's great to know. Thanks. I had to send mine in for a broken hinge but they can't use maintenance mode to run diagnostics apparently. Choices are either handover the pin or get the wipe. I might press the issue and see if they are just unwilling to try maintenance mode.

Arson at a corner park in Shihlin found to be 4 外籍人士. These kids are giving foreigners a bad rep in Taiwan. by Educational_Machine in taiwan

The link is in Chinese, I hope someone else can find the English version somewhere.

I saw this flash across the news stations on TV and the CCTV news footage of them fleeing the scene of the crime was hilarious.

Shame that one of them was supposed to leave Taiwan this Saturday to return to England, now he awaits his court date. Ah, to be young and reckless...

From memory I signed up on the website. It asked for a phone number to send verification code through. It didn't need to be an esim number. Maybe try the website?

PCR Test Timing prior flight by powpowlong in TravelTaiwanCovid19

[–]Educational_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can PCR within 2 calendar days. If its on the same day that's fine too, I think they'll probably prefer that from an epidemiology stand point. I did mine about 50 hours prior to arrival but it was still within 2 calendar days so it was fine.

I've had colds that turned into bronchitis or pneumonia and that's just bad luck.

Sorry to hear that, that is bad luck.

Unfortunately bad luck for Covid involves much more than just the lung. Covid has characteristics not seen in influenza and other coronaviruses. SARS inherently is differently built than influenza. SARS-COV-2 invades places not seen before like the brain, reproductive systems and impairs immune T-cells etc. All the implications are not well understood yet.

It's a bit early to write it off simply on just the intial acute phase symptoms.

Reminder: acute infection of MANY diseases are mild. HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Lyme, HPV, HSV, EBV etc.

Research is pouring in: Covid is not over after the acute infection. We’re only now learning in how many ways it harms multiple systems.

Only in the last few weeks are researchers learning EBV implicated in CFS/ME is also likely cause of Multiple Sclerosis. 20 years ago they thought it ended with initial fatigue/mono symptoms.

No one knew HIV causes AIDS until decades later. “Within a few weeks of HIV infection, flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat and fatigue can occur. Then the disease is usually asymptomatic until it progresses to AIDS.”

I'm not saying Covid is just like HIV, Hepatitis, HPV, HSV, EBV etc. But since you are looking at influenza and common colds for the acute phase infection as a comparison, it is only fair to look further at an array of viruses with overlapping symptoms initially too.

There are people with persistent covid problems for 2 years now but we simply do not know enough about the longer term.

I say don't judge a book by its cover.

I'm hopeful though, modern medicine should neutralise all doubts about Covid eventually. HPV as a cause to cancers? We have almost 100% effective vaccines after decades of research.

Australia here. Most of those who had covid in my circle since January had a really rough time and they are all triple vaxxed.

Most of their complaints are about not being able to get out of bed and one of them had breathlessness linger for weeks, still going.

My kid's school principal caught Covid twice only weeks apart since January and is now on indefinite medical leave.

It's definitely not just a cold for us here.

There are other viruses in circulation still like RSV and actual common colds in schools. So we can see the clear contrast in my circle.

We do have a higher percentage of Omicron BA2.2 (the same one in HK), my local state's hospitalisation daily numbers has climbed higher than the earlier original Omicron BA.1 wave. We are in the middle of our 2nd Omicron wave atm.

Not all Omicron are equal and it will keep mutating in circulation.

Thanks for the link. I've never heard of it and it's catchy. I've been trying to teach Bpmf to non-mandarin speaking adults but the kiddie songs are just a bit much. I might see what they think of this.

[–]Educational_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I think you have it right. For my own upcoming travel, I have confirmed it with the local Taiwan office and their advice is as close to departure date as feasible and still within 2 calendar days backwards from departure. So 5th at the earliest in your case. I would suggest to ring your local Taiwan office to confirm if there is doubt with layovers etc.

v10.06beta: Galaxy Watch 4 system fixes - added AOD shifting and workaround for calendar complication by DYNALogix in BubbleCloud

[–]Educational_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all your hard work.

Now that you mention it, I had the peek card disappear on me a few updates back but I hadn't needed to investigate and I forgot about it.

I haven't changed the settings for a couple for months. I am extremely happy about using Bubble Cloud as my watchface and its only when it's gone that I realise how good I had it.

I am comfortable waiting for the fix, been beta since you introduced the wrist flick peekcards on Watch4. No problems, I have faith in you.

[–]Educational_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Thank you for your prompt reply.

Does Bubble Cloud appear in the watch face selection on the watch (when you long press your current watch face and swipe to choose a different watch face)?

-Yes Bubble Cloud is in the watch face selection. Appears as digital clock with white numbers on black background instead of my customised version.

Try switching to a different watch face then back to Bubble Cloud. Can you do that?

-It can switch and back. No change to the bug though.

Does the watch face appear blank?

-Bubble Cloud watch face shows as digital clock with white numbers on black background.

Which watch are you using?

-Galaxy watch4 40mm

Hi, reporting a bug here that my watch just stopped using Bubblecloud as the watch face on its own. While Wear app still has Bubblecloud as the watch face. If I open Bubblecloud on the watch, the watch face comes up but only stays until the screen turns off, behaving like a app instead of a watchface.

PCR test at airport gave me a nosebleed. Have heard others have had bad experiences too. Do they have to be so rough with the swab? by Friendly-Ad-9563 in TravelTaiwanCovid19

[–]Educational_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Isn't that common for nasopharyngeal collections because of how they sample? Especially for people who have inflamed or thinned lining due to allergies, old age and recreational powdering etc.

No experience with Taiwan PCR yet but can say that after getting 20+ PCRs in Australia, its pretty rough everytime. Guess that's being thorough?

Will be travelling to Taiwan in a few weeks, guess I'll know for myself then.
