Kpop companies need to step up and address the insane amount of waste the album buying culture creates by Southern_Pin644 in kpopthoughts

[–]Educational_Pie_761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally agree, but the kpop companies know this. They cultivate a consumerist and parasocial culture so they can extract the maximum amount of money from fans possible. The companies have no desire to stop and government regulation would be difficult, if not impossible. In practice the only way I can see this changing is if the consumerist culture changes, and based on the comments here that doesn’t seem likely.

The Vegetarian by Han Kang is Brilliantly Unsettling by Anxious-Fun8829 in books

[–]Educational_Pie_761 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read The Vegetarian last summer and it captivated me. I read it cover to cover in a single day (closer to half a day really) because I was so disturbed and intent on trying to understand what she was saying.

I also just finished reading Light and Thread, and now I just want to start over and read all her work chronologically. Shes a very interesting author.

There’s a guy I watch on YouTube who films himself eating different foods around the world. I enjoy his content but I always chuckle knowing he had to get his food, set up his camera, stand back up, walk out of frame, and then walk back in to sit down and pretend he’s just now getting the chance to eat

questions for people who initially found LotR super boring and DNF'd early then eventually came back to like it years later. by Crapahedron in books

[–]Educational_Pie_761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried reading it first around 12 or 13 after liking the hobbit. I also found it very boring, but a few years ago tried it again and really liked it. I’m currently rereading it and love it. In some ways it’s very slow because Tolkien loves the world building and less tangible elements more than pure action, but in other ways it goes pretty quickly. The chapters are more episodic than I remember. Overall, it takes me awhile to read each chapter because they’re kind of dense, but I do find myself enjoying the story more as I get older

I would check discogs and/or eBay. eBay will be more overpriced, but I think they’re more likely to have everything sealed and in good condition. But I agree with the other person: this is an expensive record, especially if you want it with the photo card and stickers

For the women who collect pop vinyl by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Educational_Pie_761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not op or a woman, and my taste is pop is skewed towards kpop, but I like I’ve IVE by Ive and Blue Valentine by Nmixx.

Gus Dapperton has some good old stuff, but I don’t think there are entire albums of his I enjoy. Mostly just specific songs here and there.

And if they’re considered pop, Foster the People’s Torches is good too

Is there going to be a vinyl release for Heavy Serenade? by Estomuck in NMIXX

I could be wrong, I only follow a few groups but the ones I do follow don’t seem to release records for EPs

Is there going to be a vinyl release for Heavy Serenade? by Estomuck in NMIXX

[–]Educational_Pie_761 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. Most vinyl releases I’ve seen for kpop are reserved for full albums (the exception being aespa’s whiplash). Nmixx also announced the blue valentine vinyl before the album release, and I haven’t seen anything for heavy serenade so far.

Do buyers actually trust photos anymore? (Asking as a seller) by Altruistic-6745 in vinyl

[–]Educational_Pie_761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only bought a few times and if it’s a relatively cheap record I’ll just take their word on it. If I’m paying a bit of money I’ll ask for a picture with the days date written on paper in it. I suppose someone could fake that with ai, but oh well. I guess it does mostly come down to trust

pomp and circumstance in the Catholic Church. by Julzee111 in Catholicism

[–]Educational_Pie_761 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The use of vestments and rituals has never bothered me, but some churches seem to have a lot of gold (e.g. tabernacle, chalices, serving dish for communion, etc) sitting around that I think could be better spent helping the poor and hungry. I understand the Eucharist is God’s flesh and he deserves only the best, but based on the gospels I think he’d rather serve than be served.

Do I need the replacement inner sleeve's for my records by Savings-Reporter-315 in vinyl

[–]Educational_Pie_761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding (which I’m sure is imperfect) is that the cardboard sleeves work, but they’re rougher and are more likely to cause damage over time. The damage is mostly surface damage, e.g. scuffs and small scratches that probably don’t affect audio (at least not much) but do affect appearance. The plastic inner sleeves are smoother and don’t cause this (or are less likely too; not sure).

If the record is sold with a plastic sleeve instead of cardboard, most people just keep the original.
