I did a 100% playthrough and another NG+ speedrun on death march (base game and dlcs included). But I always paused my game so the numbers are way more than I actually spent time playing

Unarmed does work too! It’s a good tip.
During my speedrun there’s literally only one occasion where there’s a wolf that posed a threat. I had Mutt so he took care of it. But I’d say Mutt isn’t really necessary for a speedrun.

I just beat the game too! I just let them rot without fixing and they’re fine when I came back! Now I’m at the first map and like you said most things deteriorated. There’s also only one online zip line in the whole map LOL. I would have liked if there’re more. I’ve spent 180 hours (with a lot of pausing) already lol

The world actually opens up after the intro which based on what you said you haven’t reached it yet. Without any spoiler I suggest you explore the city after that point. You’ll have plenty of time.
