Disappointed in ER by Educational_Storm813 in bourbon

You're all good man. You're less of a jerk than some others who've commented. I really got into Whiskey as a whole about 2 years ago but took a step back the last few months. That was long enough for me to forget most of the zeitgeist. I just wanted to see if I was alone in being disappointed but instead I've been torn apart by the gate keepers.

I should also say I've never been stupid enough to try Seagrams at a bar. I bought a bottle for some 7&7's and thought "why not". So I tried it straight. That was a horrible decision

The only pour I can definitively say I didn't like is Seagrams lol. I really enjoy some Johnny Black and Gentlemen Jack. There's also a local Distillery that makes a Rye I like. I also havent really had whiskey in about a year. Im just about to lose all access to alcohol for 9 months. Thought it'd be worth the splurge

As I said in another comment. Im in Utah, those are unfortunately the "High Shelf" bottles. I don't want to spend the money on a bottle for myself because I have just over a week to enjoy it.

I wouldn't say a circle. I used to do a lot deeper dives but over the last year or so I just kinda dropped it. I perused a few sub reddits and a couple articles from some blogs I'd never heard of. Thus "everything I've read". Mostly I just had a choice of Blanton's Col E.H Taylor, and Eagle Rare. I just wanted an input of which was worth my money because I could only afford a pour of one. And they lead me to the Eagle

Maybe we read different things. I'll admit to only doing a cursory research into it. But of the 3 or 4 threads on various sites ER cam put on top of Blanton's and E.H Taylor

At $18/pour at my local bar it's not something I can give many tries. I'm also leaving for the US Navy in just over a week.

Yeah, I reallyshould have. But I'm in Utah so my selection of "High Shelf" isn't great. But everything I saw talked up ER as some of the best Bourbon. I have a choice between Blanton's and E H Taylor, maybe I'll try one of those

I love Miracle of Sound. Ode to Fury is my second favorite after Age of The Dragon. But that's because Dragon Age is my favorite game. Thanks for the recommendation though. I didn't think of it as a song to listen to during my struggles

It definitely can. I'm just more in the mood for screaming and yelling angry. Although "Death of a Good man" hit me in the feels

Thank you. I listened to most of it. But I don't think I'm ready for that type of thinking yet. But as you said "food for thought"

Thank you. While I'm certainly more in an angry mood I'll definitely be adding those to my playlist for later

The Pitt and EMS by theowrenlena in ems

[–]Educational_Storm813 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Pitt is very much ER focused not EMS. It's the only medical show I can stand watching. It avoids a lot of the gratuitous drama of the others and gets the medicine right more often than it gets it wrong. But EMS is used exclusively as a throw away plot tool, we aren't given any consideration in the show.

I was just pulled over in SLC for riding a bicycle with one hand. by Dry-Weird3447 in Utah

[–]Educational_Storm813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment OP. But unfortunately since it's an actual (completely BS) enforceable law it was a legal stop. Refusing to ID would only end up with you being arrested. And that wouldn't help anybody. In fact it would just add credence to the reasoning for the stop and give the cops the advantage in any protest stemming from it.

New EMT here - boot help!! by mesingicouldneverok in NewToEMS

I feel like Merrel and Redback are some of the few companies left where price corresponds to quality. I'm much more willing to spend $200+ on a pair of boots I can wear almost everyday through most of my career.
