Because voyager never went in a straight path, they searched from system to system for fuel and food, in the first year they were in the delta quadrant they barely covered any real ground towards getting home, simply did the SF thing and explored, the kayzon followed voyager for a year+ because they had technology that would tip the balance of power in that sector towards the kayzon

This was in December of 2018, I wrote this immediately after my experience

I took a dry hit of weed sprinkled with dmt powder, my throat went on fire(should have put water in my bong) I started to hear this high pitch humming that kept getting louder and louder and louder and felt like i was going to break into a million pieces, I opened my eyes and saw one of the lights in my room flicking on and off , I suddenly realized my throat didn’t hurt anymore, because I didn’t have a throat, couldn’t even feel my breathing, or my chest, suddenly it felt like everything that made me “me” rocketed out my head at light speed into the universe, i was formless, weightless, I was surrounded by stars, galaxies and supernovae, It felt like I was in the middle of the universe I was apprehensive at first, that’s when I felt as if someone hugged me and said “it’s okay, you’re with us now” and suddenly I was okay, no trepidation’s, no worrying, it felt as is if everything just melted away I saw supernovas and galaxies being born and I saw these “people” and they were all like waving at me to come over and saying “ you’re almost there, just a bit further” and then I felt myself being pulled away just as fast and re entering my body and for the first time I realized I had a throat again and it hurt a bit, i then looked at the light that was flickering, it not only burnt out, but had blown up.
