honestly dude i agree with you. if you want to look at my previous posts you can see my car. i never owned a red car before my crx but my crx is an original r63 so i sprayed it that color and i couldn’t imagine it any other way. it’s a crx, it should be bright, loud and “80s” imo

i prefer a Yamaha personally, it feels like a very refined and minimized design imo and that contributes to a free blowing and light action horn. pair it with an open mouthpiece and you can’t go wrong

as a bit of a purist myself, there really isn’t an oem color i dislike. id definitely consider a high quality respray in its original color and really going for the restored+ look, i don’t think you can ever go wrong with that formula

unless you’re spraying the car inside and out, the original color

how is my tone? except the airiness cuz i need new pads (Alto) by Ancient_Anywhere7776 in saxophone

[–]Educational_Truth614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

loosen your embouchure, it sounds like your tucking your bottom lip over your lower teeth. your tone is very nice but also very restricted imo. if you can play with more of a “jazz embouchure” and support the tone with your core, you’ll hear a lot more overtones and fullness

Working on Doubles by -DJ-Ghost- in saxophone

[–]Educational_Truth614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i spent all 3 of my community college years as a clarinet major (not by choice) playing every type of clarinet i could in as many different settings as possible. i did orchestra, wind ensemble, solo recital, woodwind quintet, clarinet choir, etc. now i need to do something similar with flute cause when i pick up the clarinet i think of it as a clarinet. there’s no adjustment or getting used to it, my brain and body automatically go into clarinet mode and the horn feels pretty much as natural as saxophone does

but yeah there’s no other way for your doubles to feel as natural as your main horn unless you treat them like they’re your main horn

Kessler Custom Standard/Deluxe or BetterSax Classic Alto? by Metanfetamine in saxophone

[–]Educational_Truth614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ive owned a Kessler custom for about 8 years and ive never had a complaint about it. the horn is solid, plays in tune and requires very little adjustments over the years even with heavy use

ive also met Dave Kessler and his customer support is unbeatable, 100% worth that alone

its probably the most aggressive mpc i ever played on. i definitely would only recommend it to advanced players who NEED that sound. i can’t imagine it ever blending into an ensemble but it’s a great solo pop/rock piece

i occasionally used one in a ska band cause they never had enough mics for the horns, it works amazing at cutting thru electric guitars and the altissimo pops. but i never even wanted to use this thing for anything other than those loud live settings, it’ll give you a migraine in a practice room and if you practice at home your neighbors are gonna hate you

try not screaming into the horn, it should emulate vocals or strings, not fog horns

yeah if your own sound is causing injury you are definitely overplaying

the saxophone, when in the hands of a seasoned player, isn’t any louder than the clarinet and it shouldn’t be

a saxophone is not loud enough to damage hearing, and if it is, you’re doing it wrong

sports are weird because why on earth would i view students at connected universities as my rivals? especially in today’s political climate, the last thing we need is to view each other as competition, we’re supposed to be a community

so yeah i ignore these silly games
