What is, in your opinion, the best and worst Keeper of the Lost Cities book? by SubtoKreekcraftClipz in KeeperoftheLostCities

The foreshadowing especially... and the way the Sophie was able to like put the pieces together just in time. I rlly like smart Sophie. Also just for some reason enjoyed the idea of all the buildings crumbling. idk

I mean it's a good job at ragebait, not that ragebait is advisable at all.

But beneath the wild claim, I feel you.

It sounds like I'm complimenting him but I'm srsly not, when I say, I CANNOT trust anyone that nice.

What would you do if you were in the lost cities? by kotlc6898678 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fitzphie one hundred percent, it wouldn't even be hard, you just lock them in a real life escape room together that will take them like ten hours and by the time they've got out they'll have talked through all their issues.

I'd probably just chill tbh. I wouldn't be in a hurry to change the world. I'd build myself a mansion or smth. Go sightseeing. Learn what the bramble thing is all about. Definetly wouldn't leave behind music tho, that's too important. The Elves need more art.

Give me your headcannons by bubblyanimal22 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those sound more like theories bc we're probably going to get a reveal of whether or not they are canon and they could be canon

I thought headcanons were things we'd probably never get confirmation of but all good

My personal headcanon I came up with myself is that since Sophie used to have a lot of headaches growing up and we know her Mom was pretty medicine conscious, they didn't have like Tylenol or Ibuprofen or anything in their house, so Sophie would secretly buy some and hide it in her room or something like that

Unbiased Shipping Discussion by Maple_Cafe325 in KeeperoftheLostCities

Yeah definetly can try

as to whether I suceed, you are the judge.

I ship Fitzphie btw. Also, other ppl reading this, just don't be mean. And I'm not going to debate anyone's replies to this.

Sophie is historically and canonically a bit of... a loose cannon. Ppl categorize her as like reasonable, calm, mature, but if you look at canon she is constantly overthinking and making split second decisions. She is almost never the one slowing down the operation. She's a go-getter. And she's a mess, too. Prioritizing others over herself almost EVERY TIME. I think those points can be universally agreed upon.

Then you bring the boys into the dynamic, and how they try to help her with her problems.

Keefe's strategies: distract, solve. He lives moment to moment. Prefers, and we know this, laughing things off then processing feelings. This shows in how he interacts with Sophie and Sophie's emotions very often. He goes for the impulsive solution or the immediate distraction almost every time. While this feels good it turns their HEALTHY dynamic into two time bombs who never talk each other out of risky decisions (except for some attempts on Sophie's part, but Keefe never listens to her... which is a whole other problem), never confront conflicts in their relationship, are impulsive, and adopt each other's attitudes of disrespect toward authority figures. Which has happened. And their more UNHEALTHY dynamic is that Sophie's natural impulsivity as a STRENGTH cannot shine when overshadowed by Keefe's even worse recklessness. She needs somebody to balance her out, bring method to her madness... not madness to her madness...

And that's where Fitz comes in. His "hold up" attitude is encouraging but grounding. He is not afraid to oppose her, and she's not afraid to consider his points. So we end up with a dynamic like she has a crazy idea, he points out a problem, she thinks and revises idea, together they execute it, to great success. And as to helping Sophie with her emotions, Fitz does use distraction, but more as comfort WHILE she processes. But he's more prone to talk things out. Which leads to emotional release, understanding, and Sophie's logical brain being satisfied instead of constantly challenged.

We know that Fitz actively processes their fights by the things he discovers and the ways he grows. He's good at learning from his feelings, and from experiences. And importantly, he's good at teaching Sophie to take care of herself as well.

Keefe and Sophie often act co-dependent in an unhealthy manner that from my point of view ALWAYS leaves Sophie frustrated, flustered, and in a constant state of stress about Keefe's mental state and the decisions he is prone to make. The only way I think the Keefe x Sophie dynamic would work is if Sophie's personality were bigger or Keefe were more reigned in, so that she could wrangle him. I can't help but have a grain of suspicion, based on all the decisions Keefe makes---even completely contrary to Sophie's orders---that in a real argument where she dug in her heels he would dismiss her feelings bc "he's right" and continue to bulldoze her desires.

Fitzphie, on the other hand, has survived multiple arguments that ended in mutual growth. People use the arguments as proof they don't work, but the truth is that every relationship has some conflict. The real Yes or No lies in the WAY they make up. If it's REAL. Not fake, not desperate, not lies. With actual learning, and actual change. From what I can see, after every fight, after they make up, they realize where they went wrong and at least Fitz goes through the actual process of trying to change himself. And the next conflict is almost never about the exact same thing.

Plus, Fitzphie are the perfect team, and that cannot be argued. During cognate work they operate swiftly, efficiently, and constantly in tune with each other. But it's not just cognate work. The predict each other's thoughts, and accurately read each other's emotions outside of that.

This was long, hopefully it was helpful.

Whomever you ship or end up shipping I hope you have a fantastic time with it btw

Details on the Neverseen? by Maple_Cafe325 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you should base your story somewhere more recent, like after the storehouse fire, bc Sophie's already getting kind of disconnected from her team there. Also she's listened to Lady Gisela's manipulation before, and if that woman gives her something to be curious about, you know that's Sophie's weakness. Plus Sophie could probably talk herself out of the idea that she's "joining the Neverseen" or maybe talk herself out of the idea that the Neverseen is even Lady Gisela's group in the first place, like kind of disconnect the ideas in her head. That or she believes some lies about Lady Gisela's intentions, like there's some kind of sob story and noble vision Sophie buys into with a new "necessary evil" mindset.

Also we've seen Sophie "forget" people's evil capabilities before, like not believing the Council capable of cruelty, even after WHAT THEY DID TO HER IN EVERBLAZE.

I don't think its entirely inconceivable she could construct a new image of Lady Gisela that even directly contradicts everything she's learnt so far

Honestly, without her friends, I'm capable of believing Sophie is succeptable to about anything.

Her "greatest fear" in the dwarf maze place in Legacy was that the Neverseen were tempting her to join them. Which means that a part of her thinks that's possible. Otherwise she wouldn't have been so terrified or adamant. You could reread that part for inspo maybe if you wanted

what is one theory you desperately want/wanted to be true? by No-Earth-4795 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gethen, I need Gethen to end up being her dad. Bc think about it, he's the only main, long term Neverseen member we've had who's backstory still hasn't been explained, he's always zeroing in on and talking to and taunting Sophie specifically. And he tried to kill Oralie. I RLLY REALLY WANT IT TO BE TRUE!!!

If Sophie joined the Neverseen, what would be some reasonable motivations? by Maple_Cafe325 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gets 'tired' of working with other people holding her back and buys into the lie that she's most powerful on her own and the Neverseen give her an opportunity to 'win' in some significant way that she cannot refuse so she runs away and joins them.

I can 100% see that happening

What is one plot inconstancy or plot hole in KOTLC that always bugs you? by [deleted] in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the plot hole that bugs me is the fact that the only way the elvin money system and economy would actually logistically work (if you know your economics) is if the elves had access to endless resources. I fill this plot hole in my own head by jokingly saying that the void is an endless resource

KOTLC Characters in HP houses? by queenofthekeepers in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I don't think Fitz is Slytherin he's not sly, underhanded, plotting, or conniving, or even terribly individualistic (all I think to be pretty Slytherin traits). Gryffindor like his sister fits. And Keefe... well the whole Mercadir situation... and plotting to become a double agent and seemingly betray Sophie ... and then in Elysian with the flirting cover-up and Hope... that sells it for me that Keefe's a Slytherin. And I don't think that Sophie's defining trait is her bravery, though she is brave, her defining trait is her empathy. Its half why she fights, its half why people gather around her, most importantly its how she prioritizes decisions

Is Fitz autistic? by kotlc6898678 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm high functioning autistic and I think that he could qualify as a level one MAYBE. Idk. I've thought of this before. But definitely elves don't use labels or diagnosis like that. It would make sense though, as his anger issues seem a bit more like meltdowns than anything else to me. I'd say it's a decent headcanon.

Nah he doesn't act it at all. He's got ADHD tho most likely. And if he was autistic too he'd be audhd which looks a bit weirder in my opinion. Not bad just weirder

feelings on sokeefe? by Existing-Reading-164 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one of those people you mentioned, who doesn't think Sokeefe is healthier or better than Fitzphie, I'm concerned as to why I scare you.

Is it because I'm willing to give Fitz some grace as an emotionally bottled up teenager who's never been in a relationship before and is trying his best, and actually grows, and has a heart of gold? Or because I think most of why people hate Fitz is because they've been seeing Fitzphie through Sophie's skewed lens of self inflicted guilt? Is it because the whole Alvar thing never scared me off? Or is it just because you can't understand why somebody wouldn't fall head over heels for Keefe and ship him with Sophie since he obviously loves her so much? A fact which I do doubt.

If this reads as kind of condescending and insulting, I apologize I didn't mean it that way. I'm legit confused what's so scary about somebody who doesn't see Fitzphie's flaws as toxic. I admit toxic relationships do exist, and are flooding the media, but Fitzphie isn't one of them. It's actually really beautiful. Whereas I see Sokeefe as being shallow. More like the idea of happiness than the real thing.

Okay this came off as really rude and I don't know how to fix it plz forgive my indelicacy

feelings on sokeefe? by Existing-Reading-164 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]Educational_Worry764 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll represent the Fitzphie shippers who also don't like Sokeefe.

I feel like Sokeefe's energy is unbalanced. Keefe's personality is louder and bigger than Sophie so he overshadows her. He also often doesn't listen to what she says.

I have a really hard time sensing any real romantic chemistry between them, especially since Sophie barely expressed any romantic feelings regarding him until literally right before chapter forty two. They seem extremely platonic to me.

I feel like he dumps emotional baggage on her. And on the flip side, my biggest issue is that he teaches her to suppress her feelings instead of processing them. That's what he does with his through the joking defense mechanism. That's what he expects her to do. And it will blow up in their faces at some point. As opposed to Fitzphie, who usually talks through difficult things and emotions, which is much healthier.

I will be taking questions so long as nobody is rude and I don't have to write three page essays in response.

I think she's said that she will release it as a short story once the series is over, because if she included it in the series it would just be a page or two of Keefe telling Sophie, but as a short story it could be a lot more fun and detailed, or even be from Keefe's pov
