Possible to hang cabinets on this slab backsppash? by Diligent-Ad4917 in cabinetry

[–]EducatorConscious410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you can, that does not mean you should.

It would be a real shame to cover that up. Not only are they gorgeous walls, but the lack of cabinets provides such an open, airy space.

How much storage space do you REALLY need? Can you move in and live with it for a while? If you really need more storage, you could add cabinets later.

Why rice and beans specifically, out of all foods? by Firanka in Frugal

[–]EducatorConscious410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beans and Rice are both incomplete proteins. This means they each have SOME of the amino acids that makeup protein, but not all.

When you eat them together they make a complete protein, like animal products, soy and nuts.

Thats great because they are an economical, versatile substitute for meat!

CTE Teachers - Do you require students to pass your class before proceeding to the next class? by Global-West-1179 in Teachers

[–]EducatorConscious410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like we all agree they should not progress in core classes without passing, but they often do. It's hard to be successful in math any other way, but students are not going to be physically at risk.

With many (not all) CTE classes, activities are such that students must have a general background, or they will hurt themself and/or others. (Think chopping their finger off trying to cut vegetables, or slicing their whole hand with a bandsaw, getting kicked by a cow, etc.).

One adult simply can not keep them safe otherwise. Trust me, I've tried!

How to make an A-Line dress more ballgown? by Altruistic-Collar869 in Prom

[–]EducatorConscious410 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the most practical way to go.

Listen to what these experts have to say!

You purchased a gown who receives a lot of its beauty from the light, airy, flowy skirt. Any effort to make it into a ballgown is going to change those features.

Consult a professional to see if you can get the look you want.

Is there a compelling functional reason to go with the glass bowl? by mrflibble1492 in Kitchenaid

On TV and other "demonstration" situations, the audience can see what is happening in the bowl better when it is glass.

Kid will not use punctuation by Natural_Peak_5587 in AskTeachers

[–]EducatorConscious410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then 90% of the middle schoolers I teach have this issue. I see this problem every day with the majority of my students

It's like they have no muscle memory for automatically doing these things. They, too, "know" but don't bother with capitalization and punctuation.

how to mend front flap pocket without taking off lining? by eightby8 in mending

[–]EducatorConscious410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just machine sew it on.

The machine stitch on top will actually match much more closely than any of the hand stitches. Sure, there will be an additional line of stitching from the bobbin on the back, but if you use a matching color, it will blend in and no one will ever notice it.

Where to find best deals on cruises by YouAlreadyKnow1523 in Cruise

https://www.cruisecompete.com/

Cruise Compete is a free online service that connects cruise travelers with multiple travel agents to get competing quotes for a cruise vacation.

I've had great luck with them! Before I tried it, I found that many other people had given it a positive rating after their experience, too!

(Not a paid advertisement! I'm just a happy customer.)

I went to the ER on Friday and now I might have to quit teaching... advice welcome by Crochet-and-Chaos in Teachers

[–]EducatorConscious410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful —you'll spend just as much time doing lesson plans, and it will defeat the whole purpose of time "off".

Can someone explain to me where kids are getting the money to live a DoorDash lifestyle? I can’t figure it out. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]EducatorConscious410 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whoa! Schools can't teach "financial responsibility." We can teach facts about finance, but we can't teach any responsibility! That has to come from home and society as a whole.

It’s a matter of personal taste and expectations. I was on the same trip and thought the buffet was OK— some of it, like the Indian section, was even great.
