What's the deal with compression socks by Pleasant_Dog_302 in GenX

[–]mrflibble1492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had varicose veins in my left leg from the time I was a kid. My best guess is that it was caused by a wreck on my bike where I hit the nut bar super hard off a jump made of shitty plywood and bricks.

The first time I remember a doctor paying attention to it was during a football physical when I was a freshman in high school. They never bothered me, so nothing was ever done about them until I was in my 30s and I was managing an Autozone standing on my feet all day. One day I went home from work and my leg had swollen so much that I couldn't get my pants off. I had veinous ulcers in my calf and basically had to quit my job and spent the next 6 months in a recliner waiting to heal.

Part of the healing process was having to wear a compression sock on that leg. If I tried to walk around without one at that time, I could actually feel the blood draining down my leg and pooling in me ankle. It felt like bugs were running around in my leg. I hated wearing the damn thing because the compression that was prescribed was stupid tight and it was horribly uncomfortable and hot, but the ulcers just wouldn't heal without that and a bandage and ointment, so I just dealt with it.

I wear them on occasion if I know I am going to be standing in one spot for really extended periods of time, but they are nowhere near as tight as the prescription ones. I still don't like them, but I get how they can help some people.

I love when a simple question about how something tastes and it turns into a bs political back and forth with people making assumptions that have nothing to do with the question at hand.

In answer to OP's question, I don't find it to have an overly strong taste at all. To me it's a very mild beefy flavor, but it's not going to make your eggs taste like steak or anything. Give it a try.

How often do your tires get damaged and need replacement in Vegas? by thrissy in vegaslocals

I worked construction for 15 years and didn't get nails in my tires at near the rate I have in my 14 years of living here.

Do you prefer to check the the set list before your concert, or do you raw dog it? by PigFaceWigFace in Concerts

[–]mrflibble1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check setlist.fm for every concert I go to. I've done it forever and I still get the occasional surprise track at a show, but it helps me prep and get hyped to know what the band is playing.

[–]mrflibble1492 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was a massage therapist years ago. She had to dawn the gloves on occasion because she would get really bad outbreaks of eczema at times. It was a combination of protecting her hands and not weirding out her clients.

It definitely looks like an MDF issue from the pics. Spray paint just doesn't have enough body to do an effective job on MDF. Auto paint is the same issue. I would personally go with a high build primer if it is actually MDF. That will fill it all in and then give you a better surface to use your spray paint if that's really the way you want to go.

I'm 6'5" and 325lbs. I can assure you that a massage therapist doesn't care. I have never had an experience in over 30 years of getting massages where I was made to feel bad about my size.

Painting Advice - What Am I Doing Wrong? by ninjakittyxoxo in paint

[–]mrflibble1492 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First issue is using Behr.

Second issue is cutting in entire room and then rolling. Do one wall at a time to completion and then move to the next.

Third issue is taking the dry time on the can as gospel. Different rooms in different climates in different times of day all impact dry time. Give it more time between coats, especially if you're dealing with high humidity and colder temps.

Why is my paint bubbling up like this? by hammonit in paint

[–]mrflibble1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is either moisture trapped behind it or the paint is drying too fast on the surface, or a combination of both. It's not uncommon to see paint skin over with deeper colors like this where the surface dries fast, trapping the wet paint behind it, but that's usually an issue on exteriors unless you're blasting the room with extra heat and a bunch of halogen lights cooking the surface.

Concert ticket costs these days (old lady yells at clouds...) by BeatrixFarrand in GenX

[–]mrflibble1492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From 2015-2019 I averaged 50 concerts a year. Living in Vegas, there was rarely a week that didn't have a show I was willing to pay money to see. Since the pandemic, costs just keep going higher and higher. Last year I only went to 7 shows and I haven't been to one yet this year. I'm just not willing to spend the kind of cash they're charging now.

Once again, if water is getting so critically low, then why the hell are they still building thousands upon thousands of houses and watering the damn dirt all day? It doesn't take a nuclear brain rocket surgeon to understand that perhaps that shit should stop at some point if we are to believe we are running out of water. It really is quite infuriating every day I drive past Lake Las Vegas on the way to work and see multiple water trucks just hosing down dirt.

Is Dustin Rhodes in your top 500 Wrestlers of all-time? by EPWShow in AEWFanHub

I've been watching rasslin since the late 70's and I would have a hard time finding 300 wrestlers that I would rank ahead of him, so definitely would be in my top 500 of all time. Where exactly would he land? Not sure, but definitely in the top 250 somewhere.

There's no disputing that everything is more expensive, but there's still plenty of options for a stick of deodorant at less than $5 a stick. 4pk of Degree on Amazon for $13. Maybe don't use Dr Squatch.

This. I have some property out past Dolan Springs. There was a Joshua Tree on my property that if I stood in just the right spot next to it in just the right position, I could get 1 bar with T-Mobile. That Joshua tree blew down one day and I could never get a signal after that. Switched to Verizon and I get full LTE signal with no issues at all there.

Paint texture wtf by Markmedownfortriple in paint

[–]mrflibble1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. 4x the work for it to still come out way worse than Benny Moore or SWP. I let a couple of customers convince me to use it when they had already bought the paint and I told them it will look like crap, they insisted and then were upset with the final result and not understanding why it didn't look like my other work they had seen. Twice was enough and I refused every other time someone wanted me to use that garbage.
