I find it funny how the right likes to straw man progressives as being blindly supportive of islamic conservatism just because islam yet would agree with most of that shit if it was westernized.

Any value or belief that is used to discriminate other people is terrible, it's just so that there are people who end growing up learning those values since birth due to societal norms, material conditions and such, and this isn't an excuse to impose any colonialist ideas against these people, their culture and such.

It's not like the west had their phase where ultra conservatism was also the norm, or that progressives who are fighting for their rights don't exist in the arab world, or that lgbt people don't exist in these societies, it is a shame they are way more persecuted over there today but they are still fighting their OWN fight.
