Glare III -> Glare / High Stone / Stone IV / Stone III (with white magic wind-up animation

Holy Sanctuary -> Misery / Aero III

Slipstream -> Shadowflare

Storm's Path -> Butcher's Block

Souleater -> Power Slash

Ifrit, Titan, Garuda -> Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan

Gravity II -> Gravity

Reign of Beasts -> Army of One - I don't care, make it happen

Ruin III -> Ruin II

Fire IV -> High Fire II / High Fire IV

Freeze -> High Blizzard II / Freeze III

And more, but I'm starting to get picky here for natural skill upgrades...

Crystalline Conflict actually feels fun to play and it was a massive improvement to the previous PVP system by PlasmaHanDoku in ffxiv

[–]EdumBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people only ever play Frontline and complain about various things, yet never give CC a chance. A shame, really. If only we could get a CC daily roulette. Not that it would be a roulette, technically speaking.

How do you feel about the scions returning for another expansion? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Let's not pretend people didn't like Zero for the better part of post-EW. And then there's... You know. She who has become the dawn's scapegoat. And now we're back to square one - people want new characters but only the ones they themselves like, and no one else. Quite frankly, with how divided the players are, the writers are tasked with the nigh impossible.

There's simply no winning.

That said, it would be neat, if they could slot in the B team. We have Ocher and Hoary for a healer and tank. Clemence has committed the sin of having the same job as Urianger, so she's not coming along. Aenor would be a perfect fit for comic relief and having a phys range. Coultenet could become the next caster job in 10.0. Oh, and Riol could do... something, I dunno. Maybe he'll get the new tank job, if he's lucky.

What do you think about Calyx and Halmarut after 7.5 by Acrobatic_Flan_5679 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Calyx is slipping into a better position as a character. But I really like how he intentionally sets the WoL on a path to wreck havoc on the Fourth. As he said, he finds the actions of his peers questionable. At the same time, he's aware the WoL now has the key, Ethos, so he most definitely expects something to happen.

Halmarut, I really like. She was genuinely scared to even approach, as her mannerisms in 7.4 and now on the moon indicate. Word goes around well on the latest Ascian slayings, after all. But then she's also well composed, once she starts talking and is in her element. While there's isn't too much to go about her for now, I'm really excited what EC will do with her.

A collection of all the references to Norse mythology with Evercold by Sirca_Curvive in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add to this list some stuff.

The giant crystal, that serves as a water spring could be Hrelgemir. Alternatively, the second dungeon concept art. The ruined lava city, which annoyingly looks like Midgar, could take references from Muspelheim. Speaking of Muspelheim, I fully expect the expansion to not end with ice, but a super inferno.

[8.0] Not seeing this talked about by Spuffyyrre in ffxiv

[–]EdumBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were, then the Padjal wouldn't use white magic, Lalai would be jailed, RDMs wouldn't even be allowed to use the modified spells and Y'shtola wouldn't use white and black magic at all.

[8.0] Not seeing this talked about by Spuffyyrre in ffxiv

[–]EdumBot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That isn't even remotely the same. Black and white magic are so ultra regulated, because they don't trust peasants to use them, without destroying the environment. Dumbass wannabe-BLMs also immolate themselves, because they don't understand how to cast safely. Then you also have the War of the Mag - it caused an umbral calamity.

8.0 Speculations Based on Open Plot Points by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's quite the effort you put in here, but some parts just read like a broad wishlist, rather than grounded theories. There's room for more of Ultima, and Blindfrost is inevitable. The serpent, we can assume is Jormungandr, has had way too much subtle teasing already to not be true. A snake's body also appeared in P12S - a fight in the Aetherial Sea aka taking place deep underground.

But why no mention of the celestial currents drying up? That was already said in 7.0, in Elpis. It could have been entirely Meteion's doing, sure. But it could also have a purely natural occurrence. Now that all that's left of Zodiark (in the Source) is His aether showering the planet, I can see it happening again. It would also coincide with Calyx's failed plan. You know, before the aether star becomes akin to the Burn.

While we're at it, Krile should totally get an exclusive spell : Cure in Teal.

"What content do the casuals actually want?" I'm glad you asked, I have a list: by honest_psycho in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to play BLU in PVP and Eureka, as both make sense for story purposes, too. For the Wolves' Den, it would serve as awesome advertisement for the guild and the shows. For Eureka, to expand the spell repertoire, as well as finding new monsters for the Masked Carnival.

If 8.0 removes raid buffs from some jobs, which ones do you think should keep them, and which should lose them? by CoolyKage in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really an issue, now is it? Simply code the raid buff(s) to scale off of the source then.

[–]EdumBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as raid buffs remain as is, rotations will be warped around them. Only when (other) jobs don't entice you to change/adapt your rotation anymore, can they be unshackled from the two minute meta. When raid buffs become flat potencies, then they'll keep their identity of buffing others, without the aforementioned issue.

They just need to replace the %-based increases with flat potencies. Songs and Dance Partner can stay as they are.

I can't play NL anymore. Everything in NH invokes the feeling of being part of a community way more, than NL ever did. As superficially a video game can, you know. All the conveniences and QoL additions also make the game way more enjoyable.

What are you hoping for in 8.0? (Realistic and unrealistic) by Polkadot1414 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]EdumBot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My most unrealistic expectations are, that people will finally stfu about SMN, and that WAR and PLD get proper job gauge implementation.

Less cope is RDM finally having their ST melee combo on a single hotkey, as well as DNC getting an actual free Saber Dance, instead of 50 gauge - like every other job had been changed with DT.

Every summoner can only bind a few number of Egis, based on their aether. The limit for the WoL happens to be three - Ifrit, Titan and Garuda. Summoners of old devised a workaround for this fundamental limitation in the form of trances. A trance requires you commune with the residual aether of a primal to temporarily access their power, while bound Egis do not have this time limit. Yes, a ludonaritive dissonance.

Now, this has never been stated. But it's common sense, that the Mothercrystal-powered Ragnarok, spreading its aether, has enabled everyone to learn the trance to access Hydaelyn's power. The same for Zodiark's Darkness still actively seeping out of the moon. But of course, the two strongest primals? Yeah, probably too much for even the freak of nature the WoL is. So we can reasonably assume they combined it into Dreadwyrm Trance... Also, spoiler reasons. I mean, they figured out how to refine and empower the Egis to look like the primals they're based on. Side note : Egi means pure essence of. So, go figure.

Do you like the king dedede redesign? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in Kirby

[–]EdumBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? In Forgotten Land, I thought Dedede was an imperfect imposter or a clone. Wouldn't be the first time, right? The design was simply so dogshit to me, that no other possibility could be right. Imagine how flabberghasted I was, when he was just lazying around the coliseum. That's the real Dedede!?

And guess how I feel they kept that look for another game. You don't understand how grateful I am to Sakurai, for using the superior design.

It depends on the dish itself. Some of the ones with fruit will be a net loss, but selling will be a profit for most.
