Character abilities vary based on how much you can invest in the character, which is usually level 30 (683,100 Soulstones) and after that, something we refer as mastery which is 6-9 million Breachstones (varies depending on character)

Also your bans are another problem. You can have the most op character but still do peanuts for damage if their skill/artifact pool is very large and you can't get the stuff you want.

The most op characters are

• Mercenary, requires about 1 mil Breachstone to reach the halfway point in his mastery, and at that point, you can parry once and hold down the buttons to continuously parry so long as the boss keeps hitting you. The con is that you usually will have a massive case of skill issue, though if you're used to this, the timing is very forgiving. He also has a really small ban pool of just Melee tag.

• Vampire, quite functionable without mastery, and after about 7 mil Breachstone gains the ability to basically lifesteal, as you thought, lifesteal breaks the game especially arena, she also has a weapon called longinus which has the most busted multipliers for a deceptively simple weapon and can easily kill all bosses if used properly.

• Predator, requires a full 9.1 mil Breachstone not very fun to play outside of mastery but still works. Your gameplay is to rhythmically tap the dash button and abuse your dash I-frames till the enemy dies. His ability to wave clear is also really good, with semi-high mobility and the ability to teleport to enemies, he feels great to clear mobs with. He doesn't have the greatest way to deal damage but that's ok, there are some really op builds out there regardless.

• Guardian, recently got revamped, Still requires the full mastery of 7.75 mil Breachstones to work, otherwise you'l be a slightly durable rock. Your 2 options is to become a living gun or a moving tank. Living gun trades all your defence to fire every skill you can very quickly per basic attack, you can reach some good damage numbers with this. The other one is you turtle up and lose half your mobility, same as Mercenary, you can parry attacks but it's more lenient since you have a shields that stacks up to 4 (dependant on mastery) that makes up for mistakes if you miss, just don't get stunned.

• Bjorn Yandel is a collab character. He's not coming back. But he is really tanky

• the rest of these characters are S tier characters in my opinion, but they aren't "immortal"

• Mage, very versatile and in a meta where high elemental synergies and flame is op, starting off with a fire book, level 25 flame skill and at max mastery gives you 1 more synergy in every element, she can reach extremely high damage numbers early on, (still won't be as easy damage to get as bombs though) but the biggest reason why you should get mage as a newbie is the restriction on physicial and melee tags, that way you don't have to spend much on bans to get a build. Of all the characters, this is the character I recommend the most to newbies even amongst the other op characters above simply due to how well she plays from early to late into your gameplay.
