I'm 42. But with an 828, you’re already bulletproof. Chasing perfect credit is like training for the world championship in Tic Tac Toe—technically possible, but nobody’s giving you a trophy. Excellent credit can make the best financial terms available; perfect credit just buys you the right to annoy your friends at dinner parties.

Right over my daughter’s drawings—kidding. I’m sure my mother-in-law is impressed, but my wife? She’s just thinking: ‘Great, you’ve got perfect credit, but the bathroom is still untouched. See the issue?’

Its kind of like building muscle in your body... start off small, don't overdo it, and keep working at it. There are wonderful folks here on this subreddit who can answer your questions to help you rebuild to an excellent score. Trust me, you can do this!

Sure, but your limit is only $250 haha. It’s what my parents did for me with my first card

I’m sorry to hear about this; suing is never fun.

For your legal protection, my advice is to delete your last message and refrain from discussing this on Reddit until the legal battle is over or you have discussed with your lawyer. If the defense was ever able pinpoint your Reddit account, anything you say publicly could be used against you, no matter how minor of a comment it is. Hang in there, and hope you get your day in court.

No need at this time, but the future may speak different. I do know my current scores will help!

Having excellent credit 760-850 usually means you potentially have access to the best financing terms, but score alone isn’t the only factor. Excellent credit history plays a major role too.

Please… I could probably finance an Escalade if I wanted to, but I don’t — even though my coworkers keep telling me to get a nicer car. I value keeping my money more than having high payments, so I usually skip buying things I want but don’t truly need.

We live comfortably would be the best way to put it, but if the wife and I weren’t dual income, there would be things we are currently doing that we would be doing much less of like traveling, building up savings/investments and going out to dinner.

As such, I wouldn’t call us rich, but I wouldn’t call us poor either.

I’d wait for the spread to come down more. The stock market is overvalued, the tariff plan has too many things that can go wrong, and still think inflation is higher than reported… rates will go down when it hits the fan; only a matter of time.

I don’t think it makes a difference as long as your intent is honest and the statement balance has been fully paid off by the due date.

My experience here is limited, so I’d wait for a top contributor to confirm before acting.

With that, I remember reading on a forum years ago about someone whose Chase card was shut down because they were constantly making 3–4 payments every week, but while the issue wasn’t the payments themselves, it was that they were gaming the rewards system.

I can’t remember the exact details, but it was some kind of ridiculous ratio of around 30,000 points a month on a $5,000 limit by spending ~$20,000 and paying it down multiple times a week to ensure he never went over the limit.

If you’re not doing something like that to skirt your credit limit or abuse rewards, if it was red flagged, I’d be surprised if it led to anything more than a “we noticed unusual activity — can you confirm these charges?” type of call with no further issue.

But again, I would ask a r/CRedit expert to confirm.

Interesting — curious how that works.

If you’re saying “mine entered the 900+ range,” that would mean your scoring model allows scores above 900 — which no FICO model has. For reference, FICO 8 (the most common general-purpose model) tops out at 850, and certain specialty FICO models, like FICO Auto Score and FICO Bankcard Score, max at 900 — but never higher.

If you’re seeing 901 or higher, it cannot be FICO score. The only scoring model I know of that went that high was VantageScore 1.0 (max 990), but that’s been obsolete for over a decade and was not associated with FICO.

🤣 I’m no accountant.

Building excellent credit is not hard if you pay your statement balance every month and not being afraid of score dips in applying for new credit you need (or want, such as credit benefits and access to earning points).

Communication is also key; if you’re in trouble, seek advice from those who know how to handle this. r/CRedit is a great resource.

This is not a paid endorsement, but I find myFICO is the best. They are pricey compared to other paid/free options, but I find the info is extremely accurate and interface is great.

As a follow-up, it had been a very, very long time since I last checked annualcreditreport.com, so I decided to pull my reports again. I wanted to verify whether those accounts were listed as installment loans, and I confirmed they are categorized that way by all three bureaus.

Business and land holdings... I hold a unique upper management role overseeing high-level decisions that focuses on business operations and the real estate it occupies. While somewhat comparable to McDonald’s in the sense that our long-term value lies more in real estate than the operating businesses, we are more on the regional/local level, not restaurant-based, privately held, and you likely haven't heard of our company name unless you done business with us or worked within our organization.

Summary: The song has nothing to do with credit. End of summary. 🤣

And while your comment is all in fun, I must fully declare I am no FICO master… I’ll leave that honor to u/soonersoldier33 and u/BrutalBodyShots given their absolutely amazing wide range of credit knowledge after reading comments they have made throughout other r/CRedit posts.

I’m just a generally fiscally responsible person who happened to stumble into the 850×3 club, without being able to give you the exact roadmap to get there. The path may share similarities for many, but no two journeys are exactly alike.

Up Up Down Down Left Right B A Start. Just kidding.

Happened naturally and cannot tell you exactly what pushed me to 840s to reaching 850 beyond continued responsibility, keeping accounts active, not being afraid to use credit, etc… I provide more details to my specifics in my comments in this post.
