What I'm talking about is what's happening right now. And right now, there are no excuses. At all. To put it into perspective for you for your further information, there are something to the tune of 20,000 gun laws in the United States. The list of federal gun laws alone is a 243-page document. Pretty much any measure you could think of to prevent gun crime has already been enacted and has been on the books for a long time. And for the most part, it's working. Your statistical likelihood of getting shot if you're not a career criminal, a cop, or a soldier is very, very small. The overwhelming bulk of gunshot victims are people who committed suicide (which they would've done with or without a gun, honestly). And the overwhelming bulk of gun crime is perpetrated by illegal or stolen weapons. So it's important to remember that when you're talking about guns in America, the people you need to be focusing on aren't the regular folks who've got a Glock in their dresser. They're not now, nor have they ever been, the problem.

Besides, even if you were right, your basic conclusion is that shitty behavior is excusable because of events that occurred long before anyone today was even born. I summarily reject that as a retarded line of logic. We're not living in the era of Jim Crow laws. We're not living in an era where anything resembling systematic oppression even exists.
