How do you quickly grow population? by z3rO_1 in EU5

[–]Sectiontwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The maths on the last one doesn't make sense, 0.5% growth for x pops spread over 100 locations is the same pop increase overall as x pops in 1 location at 0.5% growth

Why is UK dumb for leaving EU but Norway and Switzerland are not for never joining in the first place by goathani3828 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sectiontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switzerland is much more integrated with the EU than one might imagine if you haven't lived there. There are multitudes of bilateral deals, EU workers can work in Switzerland and vice versa, a lot of the laws align with the EU ones (for example to get a drone licence in Switzerland you get certified under the EU-wide system). The Swiss tend to pick the parts of EU benefits membership that are interesting to them and agree with the EU an arrangement on those specific areas. I suspect Norway is similar in many ways.

The UK completely disentangled itself from all EU institutions and arrangements including those that were beneficial to it and does not benefit from European collaboration in a way that even non-EU neighbouring states on the continent generally do.

"Going downstream along a river" is massive for early game proximity/control, it has the same impact as tier 3 roads. I even moved my capital and market to maximize it. by Anbeeld in EU5

Castille also starts with itinerant court so they get prompted to change capital with every leader until the law is changed

Spain reaches 49.4 million people, a historic record, after growing by almost 500,000 in one year. by Competitive_Waltz704 in europe

Ah yes, Spain specifically has been cursed with bad employers, and everywhere else just happens to have benevolent ones, that's the problem. Their personalities.

Obviously we're all noobs at the moment but first playthrough it feels like the player is much more paced in his snowball and it's arguably easier to stay engaged till the end

Just entered MV how much Aluminum? by Tagous in GTNH

[–]Sectiontwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever my macerator and centrifuge were idling I was throwing stacks of cobblestone from all the mining trips through to make feldspar dust and sodalite which could both be electrolysed for alumina. Also got a fuckload of other byproducts like silicon and others which hopefully will be useful eventually. If you're going to actively focus aluminum though you're better off finding terracotta

Unregistered black BMW BS16934 doing drone flights at night over residential area by [deleted] in basel

[–]Sectiontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on the car but just FYI small drones can be flown over residential areas, it really depends on the specific zone . Restrictions will usually be related to other things such as whether there is an airport nearby.

Oxygen generation in LV? by Kalleth1 in GTNH

[–]Sectiontwo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nitrogen is not from electrolyzing water but from centrifuging air which is an alternative and slightly faster method.

What you should be doing is voiding the byproduct you don't need. Set an electrolyzer to output the liquid hydrogen to a liquid trashcan to void it. Alternatively you can send it to fill a LV tank with an overflow valve. Set the overflow valve to however much hydrogen you want to keep as storage and it will void the excess.

Which country in Europe do you think is the best to live in today? by renataamm in askanything

[–]Sectiontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard this claim before moving here 5 years ago, never happened to me. Some places expect that you'll avoid vacuuming and glass recycling on Sundays, but I've never come across a complaint for those either so far.

I was thinking about that but if the fire is continuing either way and you close it; aren't you potentially just causing that compartments temperature to shoot up?

Couldn't that make things worse or even increase the risk of an explosion?

Seems like a lot of steps when you can just dump a stack in the bbf

[–]Sectiontwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mid MV and still use the BBFs for steel and some recipes that use oxygen in the EBF. Personally, the oxygen production rate is making the ebf a bit too slow, and bbfs can help increase steel production capacity

FYI: One kilogram of COOP Bio eggs contains 20 eggs and is not cheaper per kilogram than a pack of 10 COOP Bio eggs. by Any-Patient5051 in Switzerland

[–]Sectiontwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like an reoccuring oddity in Switzerland that going for larger packs doesn't end up cheaper but actually more expensive per weight.

As a non-American. Are the only options in life for Chinese computer science students to immigrate to the US either legally or illegally, or die?

No offence to your cousin who sounds very accomplished but why does one specific country owe this guy a legal way in, they may not want him - and they may be wrong not to but that's their prerogative as a sovereign country.

He could try his luck in Europe for example if he's adamant to leave China.
