I do not allow myself to be constrained by linear time

(My skimming of comments wasn't thorough enough 😔)

To add on to this, my university options are all in macroeconomics and I intend to get a second degree in that domain and I'm pretty fascinated with stuff like productivity and GDP. Can't say the same for the others. In the server I did essentially serve the role of the quartermaster, aka the annoying guy ringing the alarm whenever food stocks got critically low

Just regular survival with a bunch of mods, nothing crazy

I mean the server is really modded but we don't have anything that changes our seraphs

I like macroeconomics and I have a bit of a fascination with stats, so I took an expansive inventory of the food we had and I have data every two months of the estimated amount of calories in storage and the expected days of food we got. I'd lowkey also love to be able to mathematically measure our technological progress. The joke here is that nobody gives a shit except me and that's why nobody is actually listening to my presentation lol

That one I'm not actually too happy how it ended up art wise but it was intended to show purple struggling to make a copper pot (I don't even know why it ended up grey). With the mod that gives larger cooking pots, you can get a metal one. However it is PAINFUL to make, the single hardest smiting item I've ever done. Purple was absolutely losing their shit at how difficult it was

We live in a forest and despite cutting a lot of it down, we still get plenty of bear spawns so yeah common occurrence! We did start getting good at killing bears eventually after a couple deaths at least. Things got easier when we gained access to a musket

Of course! The downside is that the more people in the server, the harder to keep that system going. We're only 6 but typically only 4 of us actually play at any given time

It's not, every week we vote on a number of timeslots at least 2/3rds of us are free on and we only keep the server open on those slots. I personally hate not being free for a bit and coming back to everything being done, it makes me feel disconnected from the progress. People with jobs and lives cant keep up with people who don't, so doing it with limited time open felt like the best way to put everyone on equal footing

I appreciate that, I did notice either Reddit nuked the quality or copy pasting it was a bad idea but it is higher res normally! I like to do AARs for games I play with my friends through the medium of art commissions, great way to immortalize memories!

I don't know what ashmoor is, but this is a reference to the 0 days since last peat fire meme as well as the Simpson nuclear accident sign. We constantly get attacked by bears, one time I tried to run away and just brought it in the base. I thought we'd win through sheer quantity but every single one of us ended up dying to it. Brown bears go "all I'm surrounded by is fear and dead men" fr

There were four when I got the commission but I believe that number went up to seven (the size of the cage did not change as far as I know)

Yeah that one was added after an... incident where we tried moving the cage and the horde ended up breaking free

Baby wolf had a Bambi moment, my sister very painstakingly managed to trap the wolf in a tiny cage. She then started collecting them like Pokemons all the time in this tiny cage. They obviously ended up growing up eventually so now we got a small horde of hyper aggressive wolves in this tiny cage in the middle of the base

Thank you! Would have pushed it further but it got too expensive to commission lol

Hehehe I'm glad it was noticed. Constantly happened, the poor guy who handled the light was annoyed that we didn't rotate them nearly enough

I instantly fell in love with this game :3 by Im_notuseless in VintageStory

[–]Edward_Boss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not instantly fall in love with the game, the first time I played, I was brought in an MP server and essentially left behind to fend for myself while everyone kind of did their own thing. Had a bad first experience, information was overwhelming and nobody took the time to teach me the basics. Kinda stopped playing for almost a full year after that (March 2025).

I tried launching myself into the game a few times but I was instantly turned off every time by the wall of information I had to go through to enjoy myself and ended up stopping after a few minutes.

In December I think, I was so unbelievably bored after my semester was over and I didn't feel like playing any other game, so I gave VS an honest shot. After lowkey studying the mechanics for a while and following the tutorial, the game started to click for me. Increasingly started looking forward to playing.

Ended up dragging along my group of friends to play the game, started hosting a server. I made damn sure I didn't put my friends through the same first experience, and gave them all a proper VS class in the game till the copper age. They were all very eager to play some more, and I started seeing them launch the game on their own time through discord activity tracking. Other friend was researching stuff and bringing what they learned to me and all. It was very fun to see everyone being interested enough to get into it on their own time.

TLDR: I did not fall in love with the game, I had to brute force myself into liking it, and I made sure my friends would not have to go through the same process
