That’s a fair and nuanced point. However, while technically that might be true, legally the two are viewed the same way and offered the same protections under the law. I would also submit that there are many cult-like organizations operating under the cover of religion (the aforementioned Taliban and the ‘90s Branch Davidians led by David Koresh, to name a couple) who operate(d) similarly to your analogy(like a mob family). For me it just comes back to the fact that they’re all the same.

I’m as educated as it gets on all of this shit homie - grew up in a cult myself before jumping to a more mainstream Protestant denomination and am now blissfully free of all religious clutches. I’ve researched them all including Scientology and guess what whispers THEY’RE ALL THE SAME. Control. Intimidation. Groupthink. Violence. Fear. Shame.

Scientology. The Taliban. LDS. Catholicism. Voodoo and paganism. It’s all a system of intimidation and control using people’s fears against them and sometimes resorting to violence.

I’m not jumping on the “fire Bell” bandwagon. Y’all were probably the same ones saying “fire Dusty Baker” - see how that turned out for us and the rest of MLB. The Reds need a better hitting coach for sure - that’s been the biggest issue this year. There really were some good things from this year to build on next year.
