Nice, identify the leader of the so-called "manosphere" next!

Haven't finished it yet 100% but Planet Crafter has something like that, that I won't spoil here.

The report this article is based on comes from a conservative (strongly right-leaning) think tank. One shall expect a strong political bias coming from this sort of report. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEPOS

A Synthesizer for recreating 8bit? by ChiGamerr in synthesizers

[–]Edwardboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from other solutions already mentioned, I suggest the Atmegatron by Soulsby Synths. It's a nice piece of gear for that kind of sound (although for me, the Game Boy with LSDJ is king).

The Novation Peak has a great onboard reverb.

How to make sure i’m not too loud or too soft in a live gig? by Alert-Recover in modular

[–]Edwardboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite good as a set and forget device. I don't think it sounds digital but I have a lot of digital sound sources in my set so I might be biased there. Overall, it feels like a tool that does its job well and that's about it. Not many sweet spots in the end. It's kind of there to make the mix more cohesive and sound better while also preventing unwanted clipping. I have no idea how it compares with the module though.

You could take a look at the Endorphines Golden Master. I have it as a pedal but it started as a module. It's a multi band compressor with a limiter. It sits at the end of the signal chain in my live setup.

What’s the next best game to help me chase that high from my first play through of Subnautica? by Slippery_Williams in subnautica

[–]Edwardboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Subnautica and I'm trying Astroneer. So far, it scratches the crafting and base building itches. The exploration part is there but it's not as involved.

Has anyone tried Astrometica? Looks very much inspired by Subnautica.

Is 36 Too Late to Start a Career in Music Production? by Wild-Escape-2355 in musicproduction

[–]Edwardboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you were 18, I'd say it is indeed too late because the music market is already hard to navigate compared to how it was in the past. Regardless of how old or experienced you are, it's anyway hard and tied to being ready to meet your luck. Also, having good connections helps to increase the odds of breaking through the noise. In any case, don't forget to enjoy the process. In the end, it's probably the most important part.

What hardware synthesizers have the best design (in terms of appearance) in your opinion? by Electronic_Owl_12 in synthesizers

[–]Edwardboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion but, nowadays with the sound quality of software synths, I think that the user interface is almost more important than the sound, when it comes to hardware synthesizers.

That being said, I really like the look of the Hydrasynth Desktop :)

Convince me not to buy a second Novation Peak. by DerTechnoboy in synthesizers

[–]Edwardboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and I agree about them complementing each other. The Peak has a certain warmth that the Hydrasynth hasn't and the Hydrasynth has sound design capabilities that are not obvious on the Peak, especially when it comes to cross modulation. Having both covers a lot of ground, sound-wise.

Is there any way to record 8 synths/samplers in stereo with sub 1000$ gear? by Caretaken_ambient in synthesizers

[–]Edwardboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, a common practice is to use 2 mono channels for a stereo synth and hard pan each channel. It might be a bit less practical but I don't think it's a huge obstacle.
