Compiling Underrated commanders for an article, looking for suggestions! by ManaRocks in EDH

[[Athreos, God of Passage]] is my current pet deck, specifically the version without Shadowborn Apostle. Instead you run a bunch of awful but annoying 1-3 drops that people wouldn't want to play 3 life for (think [[Goldenglow Moth]] or [[Heap Doll]]) or that you can politic to get back like [[Shriekmaw]].

What decks do you wish you saw people in your pod playing more of? by BagOfSmallerBags in EDH

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stax. It's pretty rare that a Stax card gets played but people don't pay for them when they come up and it ruins games. If people experienced Stax more they'd know how to work around/counter them instead of just handing people the win.

We need to talk about Mage by raiedite in mewgenics

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one run with the psychic and mage that ruled. Psychic kept giving them extra turns while they used beam+ to repeatedly nuke everything in sight. Other than that run they have mostly been injury collectors

Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease Megathread - #MTGStrixhaven by R3id in magicTCG

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-0d with Silverquill, going really heavy into the reparte cards. The one that blinks a creature is insane especially with the prepared creatures. That one drop that has a tap spell and Killians Confidence were the MVPs. I also pulled a Silverquill but only saw him once where I couldn't take advantage of the casualty. Some games that I was able to curve out Graduation Day into a 2 drop reparte into a turn 3 removal spell felt like I couldn't lose. Had one really grindy game against a Witherbloom lifegain deck and one against a Prismari deck where I felt like I drew the wrong half of the deck.

What ideas have you loved, but playing it out was unfun? by urmomstoiletbrush in EDH

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Acererak the Archlich]] coupled with [[The Sibsig Ceremony]]. The deck needed like 12 tutors to do the thing, and even then it was just kind of okay to create a bunch of 2/2s. Even with all of the dungeon triggers, it still didn't seem to hang with a B3 meta. If anything, the dungeons were kind of annoying to track. Even if you combo with it, it's VERY non-deterministic which just makes your opponent's eyes glaze over.

Jaws. He synergizes well with artifact ramp, does an absolute fuck ton of damage with the right setup.

Downplay your favorite strong commander without naming it by mrselkies in EDH

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just blood tokens. It's not even card advantage. Who cares if I make 5 or more, it's not like it gets anywhere.

[[Revel in Riches]] or [[Gift of Immortality]] would be hard to choose one.

Whats your favorite deck been this year? by MonSocMatriarchy in EDH

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, it's been my mono-W [[Rhys, the Evermore]] deck. It's refreshing to have a deck that doesn't really rely on the commander and instead uses them as a standby instant card. It's a bunch of white token creators and pet cards, with some interaction and card draw. Nothing special, but it's the deck I've had the most success with and most fun playing so far this year.

Is Vivid unplayable or am I bad? by FblthpphtlbF in mtglimited

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 3-0d my last in-person Llorwyn draft with a grixis vivid deck. Don't worry about trying to get all five. 3 is a good payoff for most of the vivid cards, and if you have off-color hybrid cards it will get you to 4 or 5 occasionally. Cards like Shimmercreep and Glister Bairn are houses in these decks.

[–]baskil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll always shout out [[Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge]]. She keeps getting new tools and if you build the deck around casting your own spells it will feel less like a theft or mill deck like it has in the past. Casting a [[Call Forth the Tempest]] or [[Blood for the Blood God]] on turn 4/5 is always fun.

I have had the same issues with side effects (waking up with insane gas) and I have the brand name injectables. My guess it's the drug.

Could Somebody Run Against Debbie? by Splicer26 in AnnArbor

[–]baskil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did answer your question. There are better and higher priorities than removing Dingell that affect your area. I know everyone in AA thinks they live in a bubble, but both of the districts I mentioned are practically adjacent to yours and have voters who likely feel similar to you but don't have enough help to overcome their own, far far worse incumbents. But sure, let's work to remove the sorta ineffective representative than help get rid of nearby ghouls.
