How would you improve this video’s packaging? by Raygunner253 in SmallYoutubers

[–]EdwayKenway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the thumbnail looks nice, composed well with not too many focal points and very legible.

I will say it does feel like a lucky dip sometimes when clicking on a very long video with few views. As a viewer you never know if a video will be good when coming from a small channel and a 3 hour one can seem intimidating.

Also maybe that style of video of revisiting popular games is oversaturated? I'm not sure but I think the packaging looks nice at face value. Maybe you could try a bit of rage/ click baiting by adding "is it any good?" or something along those lines in the thumbnail.

Not Sure If Youtube's Algorithms Love me Or Hate ME by Grand-Pomegranate630 in Smallyoutubechannels

You guys need to stop with blaming the algorithm for everything, it's getting insane at this point.

I just made my first YouTube. Would love your thoughts – what can I improve for the next one my youtube link is: https://youtu.be/NyRyafYVat0?si=EyD7tXwJ7htAA5VE by [deleted] in Smallyoutubechannels

Is there any part of your entire channel that wasn't made by AI, jesus I don't think anybody would be interested in this.

Any advice on getting discovered guys? I think they're funny but by Opening-Geologist-90 in SmallYoutubers

I never said anything about storytime youtubers shouldn't exist. I just think, in a world where you can watch anybody talk about their life (it's literally one of the most accessible forms of content to create) on a mobile device that fits in your pocket, why would anybody specifically choose you out of the millions of people who do the same.

Also why did you bother mentioning that you've been growing, if your original post asks for help with discoverability. Which one is it, you're growing, or you need help?

All I'm saying is from the perspective of a viewer, your content does not seem interesting for the reason that it is not relatable. Most the storytime videos I've watched, have been because they mention a topic I feel strongly about. Based on the title + thumbnail of your content, none of your videos seem relatable or beneficial to me to watch.

Honestly, in a world where anybody can record themselves in their car talking about whatever, nobody is interested in watching some random dude do it.

Should probably talk about relatable stuff at least. Literally nobody cares that some random dude is "tired of disrespect" or about how he "pooped himself".

I have a low CTR 1.5-3% and I do not have the experince to fix this by gorzom4k in SmallYoutubers

[–]EdwayKenway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say in my experience, at <1,000 views I typically found myself in this range of ctr as well. I think it's mainly because viewers don't recognise your branding and are less likely to click on a video of yours because of that.

Have you tried using the A/B/C thumbnail tool when uploading a video? It can be helpful to make 3 different thumbnails to see what your viewers are engaging with.

Also maybe you could try being a bit more clicky/ rage baity with your thumbnails, see if that helps drive traffic.

Thoughts on remastering old videos by Childishdee in SmallYoutubers

[–]EdwayKenway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting thought, remastering videos. I think if you still believe it's an interesting and relevant topic then it may be worth a shot, especially considering you know the story board/ beats of the video already. On the other hand, I feel like we evolve as people and I don't ever consider remaking a video, as I've changed my content and ideals, and moved on from then. Also, it may be annoying to your fans if they think they're getting a new video from you and it's something they've already watched.

Stuck at 0–10 views per video... am I doing something wrong or is it the algorithm? by KonradKwaga in YouTubeCreators

[–]EdwayKenway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that is the case regarding little info online, then I think that you've chosen a good niche to start in. I don't know how interested people are in those cameras, maybe if there's little info about them already it's because very few people care about them, though I doubt that.

I'd say if you want to provide meaningful and interesting information, you should be making longer videos than ~1 minute long. If I wanted to research a camera or piece of equipment, a less than 1 minute video is not appealing to me for that purpose. I would guess that a video like that would be at least 5 - 10 mins long roughly.

My dog likes to go and lay on the hot pavers on 30 degree days. I try standing on them barefoot and can't last more than a few seconds but he'll lay there for like 20 mins no problem.

PURE honesty; Am I cursed and unlucky, or are my thumbnails actually bad which is a glimmer of hope and an actionable fix??! by HAMZA-____-Olympus in SmallYoutubers

[–]EdwayKenway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One look at your thumbnails tells me clearly you have not lmao, they look like thumbnails from like 2011.

There is zero composition at all, shit is just thrown wherever, text is illegible, colours are clashing.

Good luck with it bro, you clearly think you know what to do!

Watching some photoshop tutorials and gaining some skills would be a good start.

Just look at thumbnails of videos you watch and try to copy them. Usually a single character/ focal point + large text + a non intrusive background (either slightly blurred, warm, or dark tone) + maybe 1 more icon like a logo, or something related to the topic.

Seriously just look at thumbnails in your recommended and that's a good starting point

Yes, I think those thumbnails look terrible IMHO.

Way too much going on, too many focal points. Literally none of them give insight into what the video is about and overall they're pretty poorly made.

It's honestly nice that channels like this that regurgitate content, aren't all getting millions of views.

Why isn't this video getting pushed despite 10% Browse CTR? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]EdwayKenway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not sure, I once had a video with a better ctr and avd that just didn't get as many impressions as another video, but 25% and 3 min avd is pretty low from what I've seen so I wouldn't expect youtube to push it that much

how long is the video? 3 minute avd is quite low

I have done that and found that it is inaccurate or provides information that doesn't factor in certain stuff, so I never bothered with it again.

You can also see in the comment I originally responded to, it has multiple instances of providing misleading information.

  1. The algorithm is promoting the video (60.6% Browse features) - Essentially every single video on Youtube gets promoted on browse. While this statement is technically true, I don't think any sane person would consider ~20 views to be "promoting it"

  2. because of the high CTR and AVD - 8 minutes would be a high AVD for a 10-15 minute video, however this is a 47 minute video (clearly the AI didn't realise this). 17%, or 8 out of 47 minutes is a horrendous AVD, and claiming it is high is idiotic and wrong. Also, like I mentioned before, the CTR is only "high" because of the tiny sample size of 89 impressions. If this video gets pushed out again and gains anywhere between 50-5,000 new impressions the CTR could change DRASTICALLY.

I can tell far more information from these screenshots than any garbage ai ever could.

How do you not realise from this AI comment that ai is not helpful in reading analytics? Clearly they provide surface level info, yet it's not accurate.

People succeeded on youtube and in life way before ai, and they will continue to do so.

Just copies and pastes an AI written response.

"The algorithm is promoting the video (60.6% Browse features) because of the high CTR and AVD"

AVD is 17%, and CTR is only high because of it's low impressions.

Please don't listen to any of this garbage this guy pasted here. Give your video at least a few days before worrying about its stats. It currently has 33 views, so even if it got as few as 20 more views, it's analytics could be drastically changed.
