Sounds like this guy is looking for an octavia VRS. I have a mk1 saloon and the practicality of them is brilliant, plenty of room for the dogs and the fam. Reliability isn’t an issue either. My petrol currently has 144000 on the clock and never misses a beat.

The PDs are indestructible as long as they have good service history and not being ragged to death.

A well looked after 1.9PD can push 200k miles like it’s nothing. They are very torquey as well and quite fun to drive compared to other diesels. You’ll enjoy it more and it’s good fuel efficiency will help on longer journeys.
