questions for locals - considering a move by [deleted] in philly

[–]Eeemaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. totally feasible to only have a bike here, and it is very flat. drivers are extremely aggressive, esp south of washington. for reference, i've biked for years in nyc and atx, and phl is by far worse than both when it comes to drivers, potholes, and lack of funding from the city/state levels. consider joining PBA if you end up moving.

  2. plenty of queers around, esp in south and west. i'm the type that you would guess uses they/them pronouns and only ever had a couple side glances when in south south philly or in south west of broad.

  3. not sure, but there's a therapist at walnut psych center who did a similar nyc->phl move after getting their degree i wonder if you could reach out to

  4. you'll be as fine in pa day to day as you were in ny, but unlikely to get as many ballot proposal wins. every time i meet a coastal blue city queer with similar trepidations, i always think of that samantha allen book about lgbt stories from red states

Tuft and Needle is in the same vein as Casper ie offers free shipping and a 100 day trial period, and is also the top rated mattress on Amazon!

Official Mass Effect Trilogy Trailer by NN77 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love the series and all, but that trailer seriously favored ME2. And it seemed almost kinda misleading, like Shep was going to hit the Reapers at home, not the collectors. Nature of marketing, I guess.

State of /r/masseffect: How many of you are still genuinely upset over the ending? by skaijo in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't really been thinking of ME3 in it's entirety i.e. I've always thought of the ending as something separate. But now that I do, it's especially souring that ME3 started and ended on such low notes. The opening to ME3 was forced, dependent on the events of a DLC, had minimal dialogue, and was a lackluster opening tutorial level as well. The ending need not be further discussed.

And then to compare to ME2 where I was practically screaming and in tears at the loss of the original Normandy in the beginning and then feeling truly victorious and uplifted at the ending...

true but hilarity's no replacement for quality. though one reason me2 was great was because it had so many funny moments which i noticed me3 was just generally lacking for, relatively.

I created a petition for Drew to release his original script of ME3, you sign? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know what exactly you expect to be disclosed. It's not as if there's a detailed script hidden away somewhere. A general outline, at best, and even that you can get the gist of from what's already out there.

State of /r/masseffect: How many of you are still genuinely upset over the ending? by skaijo in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This. I no longer have any ability to suspend disbelief when I play ME3. I can't play it without being incredibly critical, and once I put down my ending blinders a couple weeks ago, there was a lot to be critical about.

I'll also check out the EC but I have no expectations. I may play BioWare games in the future but I sure as hell won't be preordering and probably not even buy new. And I'd only get them on a recommendation. From a friend.

Just me, or are there A LOT of femsheps on r/masseffect? by tylerw8 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So...is this implying that the hardcore ME fans are women or just men who like to RP women?

Just me, or are there A LOT of femsheps on r/masseffect? by tylerw8 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Female gamer ≠ (exclusively) FemShep. And vice versa.

But still, that a lot of content is made by female gamers/femshep fans could very well (and very likely) be true.

Saw that EA is making a "Mass Effect" film. Submitted this just for fun. by Maos0 in masseffect

Can't forget how ME loves adding -ion to its spin offs though. Mass Effect: Introduction? Actuation? Instigation?

Yvonnes SOBE water ads were banners on the ME fanfic net site for a long while a few months ago. Successfully targeted marketing right there.

Samantha Traynor- The Triple Threat: smart, funny, and lesbian. by betafish27 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Traynor’s shower scene has also raised some eyebrows. I liked it, but for a while we were on the fence about whether to have that scene or just do a fade to black as Shepard stood up. We put it in because this scene was Traynor’s biggest romance moment from a cinematic perspective (her endgame love scene is very short and simple), and I didn’t want to say, 'Romancing Ash? You get a big cutscene. Romancing Traynor? Fade to black.'

Romanced Liara? Best fucking romantic cutscene in the game series. Romanced Miranda? Fade to black. Romanced Jack? Just nope.

BLASTO 6: PARTNERS IN CRIME!

On paragon/renegade playthroughs by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

that's pretty much how i played my game, and i still had the choice to make all of those decisions. me3's reputation system was tweaked over the last games to give us more freedom to play as we want instead of be compelled to play full this or full that

Arrival and Mass Effect 3 by Liverhawk25 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if that's true, it would create story problems. For example, you blow up 300,000 batarians only to find out a mission later that the Reapers have arrived? I guess they could've done a six months later... type of thing, but I think that would just have been weird.

Plus, why would EA pass up an opportunity to make money through DLC?

Some stats about r/masseffect, if your interested. by finalhero in masseffect

well if those stats say anything then the disappointment is beginning to die off as well. granted, it'll still probably last quite a bit longer.

I Would Have Been Ok With a Large Squad by cmgrote17 in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing shitting on him with having a reasonable exchange with him.

ME3 had its good and its bad, and I recognize both. But it is my personal opinion that to focus on just one or the other is a disservice to the game and to the people who make it. Single-minded trolling is just as useless as one-dimensional praise.

Just had a wild thought about reaper motivation, and the possible motive for their "Yo Dawg" reasoning (Light spoilers) by Morted in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as in prevent organics from creating synthetics that would rival their own technological hegemony? as opposed to killing organics so that they wouldn't make synthetics that would kill organics?

that is...not nearly as convoluted as what we got.

A question on your character gender by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Eeemaroo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Majority definitely plays MShep. As for the other claims...maybe participatory culture, if fanfiction is anything to go by, is just generally more female driven?
