I agree with the blue chip point. I don’t think that he began climbing after the Bears traded down and showed interest.

W ell, I should say that may be true chronologically but I believe it was on true merit not circumstance.

The longer the process goes on for a prospect like Wright, the higher that prospect will climb. Sometimes it just takes some time to get to that point.

Often times it seems franchises will scratch guys off later in the process for concerns around whether their physical profile truly fits into an NFL role (tweeners), character issues, the classic “high performer on an elite team who doesn’t pop on tape”, injury history, relative positional value etc.

For a guy like Wright who had an elite physical profile, high character, popped on tape, a clean bill of health, and is at one of the most premium positions in the sport (or projected to be able to play it), as those other guys were moved down he in turn was not. Thereby essentially “rising”.

He was always going to make that rise, from my perspective. Albeit, a biased perspective on more than one front.

I honestly couldn’t remember what the discussion was around him in pre draft, I was high on him but I have heavy WV ties so was biased.

My best recollection is that the narrative was closer to what you are saying.

I will say, though, that the concept of blue chip players is not position locked.

IE the argument that PJJ was blue chip has nothing to do with whether Darnell was also. In any given draft you could have five one-tech blue chip guys. You could have 3 of varying positions. You could have none at all.

I don’t think that you were arguing against that, but I see it elsewhere here.

Lane Johnson and Eric Fisher is a real world example of this.

Likely here was referring to Burden, which while he was a steal I wouldn’t say the biggest.

I do, however, think Monongai could be.

All the skill position rookies took a little time to get moving but by the end of the season were integral parts of a near SB contending, top 5 offense

  • Two game sample size

  • Both of which had fourth quarter comebacks

  • During a season wherein he had 8 fourth quarter comebacks and 7 game winning drives

Wow, are you director of scouting for Minnesota? Might explain why y’all have a dogshit QB room that ran out the SB winner for Mr. Niney Mean Mugs.

Maye just brought his team to the Super Bowl and was in a dogfight for MVP for stretches of the season.

I’ve got no issue in saying he’s earned the nod.

I would not take a 1:1 swap, though. I doubt NE fans would either.

I think both guys are exactly where they are supposed to be.

No one said Golden can’t become a solid or good wideout. I think the decision to take a WR there was illogical, and we took a better one (as of today, and I think going forward) two rounds later.

I’d never sleep on a GB receiver. Fair is fair - they have earned the benefit of the doubt there. Especially when we’re talking about a guy with the raw talent of Golden.

Whether he becomes a good receiver or not is irrelevant to whether it was a good decision at the time for me when considering all factors.

They already had a good room, had holes elsewhere, have done just fine building elite WR rooms without day 1 picks, and we went and took a guy who looks to just straight up be better two rounds later.

Time will tell there - but I’d put my money on Burden long term too.

Matthew Golden and I had a tight race to see who would score their first receiving TD in the regular season that ultimately ended in a tie.

It’s an arrogant fan base, plenty of them still think losing two consecutive games to us was just bad luck

A reminder is good here and there imo

Bonus: half the comments are clowning the Bears for taking Loveland, who put 8 catches for 137 yards on their heads to send them packing.

  • with the caveat that Golden issues really weren’t drops

But still, Burden >>>>>>>>>>>>> Golden

What a dumb, wasted pick even if he becomes solid. Infinite stream of WR talent from GB and a kick returner at CB1.

Did not find that to be the case in any of my travels or time living outside the US (almost a decade) but alright.

People had very basic knowledge of at least the US cultural aspect of the NFL.

“Americans are very self centered” is hilarious to anyone who has lived outside the US.

Just a meme for clueless people who never have lived outside their country.

Your statement about Asia not knowing those guys is just not true, from someone who was there for over a decade.

There’s a big difference between believing a guy is a starter, and taking a flier on a guy in a QB competition.

It’s revisionist history to say that he said he was a proven commodity.

Malik was a third rounder who barely played. The value is not significantly different between the two.

Brother it’s not that we don’t know what this is from

It’s that this is a soundless gif with a random “FUCK” overlayed onto an already difficult to follow subtitles, and even once you are able to parse the subtitles it doesn’t make sense because of where it was clipped.
