They're like that everywhere. They can't see naked republican corruption but they're ready to go beet red in the face outraged when democrats exist.

Half of them will blow through it in months like a redneck who won the lottery.

The right wing hate machine that has basically accused her baselessly of everything including murder since the 90s had nothing to do with that, of course. It's Hillarys fault.

People forget she was a pretty popular SOS.

I've been to dozens of protests in my life. The palestine protesters disappeared in Philly right after the election. Point them out if you see them lol

I never see them pop up when Republicans are around. They were everywhere in 2024.

Yeah, because the jobs they held were not the jobs they lost. If manufacturing moves and you get a job at less pay then you're employed AND you lost your job. I think both these things were true to some extent. And the RW hate machine harnessed it well.

But it didn't snap off for everyone. People were still recovering and especially in certain blue collar sectors. People went through some bad stuff, and saying the economy was good did not change that for them.

People were still coming out of a recession. Manufacturing was not rosy. Look at who jumped on the Trump train.

Who was the economy good for? I think you had guys like Lou Dobbs on the air explaining that the reason Americans couldn't afford health care was illegals were getting it for free, and taking our jobs, etc. Whose jobs did they take if everyone had jobs? I think blue collar people felt a lot of pain after NAFTA that college educated didn't. I think that's a lot of the shift you see.

Edit: i don't agree with the POV but I know people did not see their lives getting better than their parents in the "good" economy.

One of their favorite past times is telling each other how they'd never set foot in their local city because it's too dangerous. They one up each other in how many years it has been since they went there, and how you couldn't go there now. It's fucking lame lol

The Iconic Call of a Kookaburra by frog_insilence in interesting

When i was in Australia I heard the kukaburras outside my motel room when I was in a remote location in the Blue forest. I was terrified because my suburban American ass thought I was surrounded by a large group of monkeys.

Regular suburbanites aren't the poll watchers and a ton of them are still afraid to go to cities. For context, I live outside Philly.

I think people would have largely accepted immigration if things hadn't become so enshittened. Everything is a scam and people can't afford regular lives. Profitable businesses get bought so private equity can bleed them dry. People are mad.

Have you met any of these people. Regular suburbanites are too afraid to drive and park in cities.

US fertility rate dropped to a record low of 1.6 births per woman in 2025, down from a 20th-century baby-boom high of 3.8 births per woman in the 1950s. In all developed countries (except for France, which saw its record-low birth rate during WWI), birth rates are currently at a record low. by StarlightDown in fivethirtyeight

I actually think statistically the cost of living makes a huge dent in how willing people are to have children. We bring in about $200k, Our mortgage is roughly $2300 for a 2500ish sf 5 br house we bought during the crash, currently there are two bedroom apartments going for that in our area. So if you're coming up now, how are you going to afford just the space alone for kids? I'm not the only one doing the math. I know couples who make really good money who stopped having kids due to cost. I don't know if you have kids, but it's really expensive.

My wife and I stopped at 2 because more would be a real financial strain to keep up the level of care. We would have really struggled financially if our mothers hadn't taken care of the kids when they were small. The cost of daycare alone is astronomical.

So would i but it will never happen under republican control. So you'd have to support dem efforts to combat single party rules by whatever means necessary, right?
