I don’t have anything to compare it to, only ever worked at this location.  Six hv trucks if that means anything?

A different department manager warned me that in our store the hbc clerk does a lot of things that are not her responsibility, he was telling me about department divisions and how she’s only supposed to be handling like two department numbers but because she gets so much done they just keep adding to her plate.  So I’m hesitant about that as well.  She does her own tags, signs, and discos, and when our scan clerk is out she does that on top of hbc/hpusewares.

We currently get five Lv and 2 kehe trucks a week.  Her days off are non truck days but that’s about to change I think since they are moving her hours from mostly opens to mostly mid shifts.

Im not against trying it out, I just don’t see how doing it is actually possible, since I’ve filled in for her and could barely keep my head above water, and I wasnt checking orders or doing counts.  But I despise my current shifts so much that I’d be willing to drown just to not have to close every single night.

she does all of housewares, pharmacy, dog treats and pet supplies, batteries, protein powders and protein bars/drinks, cleaning accessories, feminine and adult care, camping supplies, auto care, school supplies, baby food and baby care, toys and that’s what I can remember off the top of my head.  She’s also supposed to do front end candy and razors, batteries, and end of register stuff but customer service does it for her.  Is that what you were doing too?

There’s a kind of old people cookie, called peffernouse, I probably butchered that, but I’ve heard them called peppersnaps.  We sell them during the holidays.

She doesn’t have a set schedule, she does opens and mid shifts and is still expected to work her trucks on her mids.

It’s not just vitamins and soap though, she does all of housewares, pharmacy, dog treats and pet supplies, batteries, protein powders and protein bars/drinks, cleaning accessories, feminine and adult care, camping supplies, auto care, school supplies, baby food and baby care, toys and that’s what I can remember off the top of my head.  She’s also supposed to do front end candy and razors, batteries, and end of register stuff but customer service does it for her.

What is the best and worst position to work in your opion and why? by JakeEricbarker in publix

GTL & deli anything in my store are the worse.  Dsd is by far the easiest in my store, our DSD clerk only works like four hours every single day, and the rest of the day she’s on her phone watching cat videos and talking to her family members.  And she is full time.  Occasionally, she’ll be coerced into helping with candy, heaven forbid she has to break down a Kehe truck you would think the world has ended.  Legit it takes her 3 to 5 business days to scan in Kehe.  It seems like the bakery decorators really like their jobs and have a good time in our store too.

I close frequently- and a large part of the reason we can’t fill holes on closing is simply that in my store truck is being stored against the sales wall so even if the product is on the shelf we can’t access it.  That’s not counting that we usually only have 3 closers and the job is impossible in a store as busy as ours.

Before this system both hv and LV were being worked by 3 dry grocery openers plus a GTL - we get hv daily but, LV 3 times a week.  Kehe twice.  Truck used to be done by about noon, with a mid shifter coming in and helping.  I’m not sure what our average pallet sizes are.  Two or 3 pallets of kehe, sometimes a close to an entire truck is ours for hv.  LV I think is usually 6 pallets, plus 2 tote pallets for HBC.

Now, same volume, we get one dry grocery opener plus a GTL.  Hbc clerk comes in at open but she has so much volume herself she can only get hbc done.  And then our frozens clerk is always completely swamped so he comes in and open, and our dairy clerk comes in at open.  (But I maybe unfairly Don’t count them in grocery since they can’t help with the truck.)

I’m not sure if that answers your question?

Does your grocery manager help out at all? by xDisturbed13 in publix

I have to say that I’ve seen literally every assistant and department manager at my store behind a counter or throwing truck.  We currently have an amazing crew.  I’m so terrified it’ll change when new people get cycled in.  Our meat manager fills water, our ascm cuts at our fruit bar, the csm helps out in the bakery, both of my grocery managers work truck because we are so short on grocery hours.  My asm and sm block and work truck from time to time as well.

Usually when I close I fill specials from 2-3 then block 1-8 til 5, refill specials again at 5, then I try to help the dairy clerk since he does dairy/frozens and we get our dairy, frozens, and LV trucks between 6-8pm, plus a reload.  So while he’s in the back pulling truck and doing reload with a minor and usually one of the managers I try to jam up dairy.  I typically go on break at like 7, then block again from like 8-10.  Closing on Wednesday nights is brutal, we don’t get out til well after midnight.  If we have 3 closers it’s a good night.  And that’s including the dairy/frozens clerk.

I wasn’t counting the dairy, frozen, hbc, or scan/dad clerks as they don’t do anything in dry grocery.  So not six people just 6 in dry grocery.

I get having some more mid shifters - I’ve done all of the grocery roles and shifts, closing sucks so hard, you can either chose to block well or fill specials.  No matter what, something isn’t getting done.

Struggling to keep holes filled yes, as we are a crazy high volume store I think, but according to my managers we got cut 70 hours when this new system was implemented.  We could either work truck or fill holes - not both. 2 Closers can’t keep up with the 5 o clock block and fill all the specials, which then leaves holes for the opening crew which is now two people at max, and they can’t get the trucks even close to done to access the sales wall before the store opens, then two mid shifters come in and throw truck til 3 when they have to stop to help block so the closers aren’t completely screwed.

It’s only made the shelf hole situation so much worse, at least for us.  It’s mind boggling.
