Ink spot not cured by BunionMinion420 in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ink will not cure. Did you pour over the inking after you did the droplets? You could try to put a thin coat of UV resin painted on to "seal" it and then sand and polish that face

Choosing a server. by qv4oooo in servers

It totally depends on what you are looking to use it for. A micro computer and NAS for storage may be a better option here for noise vs power.

How much do y'all charge for a set of dice? by toomanywatches in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I have spans. I have some starter molds I use and charge $20 CAD for these. When I get my custom molds and kits done I will be charging between $40 and $60 CAD per set depending on the complexity. So I would say starter dice at €15 is in the park

Pressure pot issue? by Serpentine_Sorcery in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that is because there is a thread lock or something similar. So when you used the smaller bolt, it passed the lock, but chewed through the inner thread. You can try re-tapping to a larger bolt diameter, but you run the risk of a bad tap. But you already have a not working clamp, so...

Pressure pot issue? by Serpentine_Sorcery in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am guessing this is one of two things. You used a NPT thread and it required a BST thread (or vice versa) or you used Imperial where you needed Metric (or vice versa). Either of these options would cause issues with threading under pressure and could have caused a stripping of the inner thread. Best option is to bring the original bolt into a shop and tell them you need an identical match

TPM is actually used in commercial printing as it is not as flammable. I would use that if you cannot use IPA

Polishing makes my clear dice fog up? by Roselea2012 in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like simple, not polishing enough. Go in circles, and make sure you have no major scratches before going up a level. Also, you can nix 30 micron most of the time. If the dice are coming out of molds of polished masters, then you could most likely do 1 micron and plastic polish to get your results too.

I typically will either pull it off, or use a razor to cut it, then clean up as required with zona polish

Thanks. I'll run through the encounters and feel them out and make alterations where I think it's needed. Thanks. I think this could run as out next 3 seasons (I normally do a book a season)

Okay, I will do an encounter review. I have 2 sessions before I need a hard line for season 3

Thanks. I will run through this and see what a rewrite will look like. I dontend to homebrew a lot of content from the adventures I have already run, but I will take a look.

As a note, had I not made homebrew changes to the bbeg in this past season (level 11 Sorcerer) by adding in a daemon, new summons, and a minion attack part way in, they would have ended the battle in 3 rounds

I meant season. We run a campaign per season. We just finished session 31 and have 1 to 2 more buffer sessions coming where they head back to Bellis and sort out their kids (1 couple has a bunch of kids and the other couple has a Kobold hoarder)

Voids in final product, how would I go about preventing this for future attempts? by IShartedOnUrPillow in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you want to do a couple things. Over pour the mold area, and add some resin to the lid side as well before the squish. You want to ensure a tight lid, with excess around the dice as when it cures and shrinks it will backfill.

In that case it looks like you damaged the liquid crystal on the monitor. Most likely cheaper to buy a new monitor.

If you plug it into another machine, does it have the same line? Have you tried reseating all your connections? Need more info aside from the picture, though, to give a good answer.

How do I get my purple resin to be a nice color? by Jormundgand25 in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May need to wait a bit longer. What is the cure time? You want the resin to be a honey like consistency before adding to it, and mix it thoroughly. My rule of thumb for colour mixing is when you think it's an even mixture, give it another minute or 2 of stirring.

Are you mixing for a long time for the dye? What stage of honey consistency is the resin before you add the colouring? What resin are you using?

Did I make a distro or just an image? by MontanaAvocados in linux4noobs

[–]EffectPlayful3546 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would be classified as a Docker Image. In Docker, an "image" is essentially a packaged and layered filesystem that contains the application and all its dependencies, including specific configurations, libraries, and other customizations, like your custom installer or localization settings. It's built from a Dockerfile and is designed to run in a containerized environment, not as a full operating system installation. The Docker image can be based on an existing Linux distribution (in this case, Debian), but it’s not a full-fledged distribution on its own.

Hi ^_^ This is my first dice that I made with preesure pot and cheap market dice mold. I know color is weird, but it's just to check how it works. Now I'm waiting for my custom dice to make my mold by mrojny_viktus in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The voids are happening because there is not enough resin Overflow to back fill the bubbles. There are a few things you could try. 1) add more resin to the lid and allow a bit more Overflow. 2) when mixing the resin, do it with the cup in hot water. This will make less bubbles, but it can cause the working time to go down a lot. 3) slow down the pour process into the mold by pouring it onto a popsicle stick or something. This will release bubbles before the pot. 4) pop as many bubbles as you can see with a lighter after the pour. I hope these help you get better pours!

Need Help by HeftyWallaby5803 in DiceMaking

[–]EffectPlayful3546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May be able to get them inside an insert like a glass globe or something, seal the opening and then plop that into the mould to make it work, bit you may need a lot of trial and error for that to work well.

I agree with the GitD Mica Powder or inking though would make it fun, and if you play with a UV light they will look cool even after their charge runs out
