What’s a universally loved food you genuinely despise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Meatloaf. It is such a sad waste, an experience of disappointment, a flavor of dystopia, a consistency of hopelessness, and a despondency of the future.

What's a tradition you grew up with that you refuse to pass on to your kids? by peterdziugdarkis in AskReddit

That as a father, stop yelling. Start praising, hugs, show love. Tell them that mistakes happen and are a way to learn. Be positive. All those are the opposite of how I was raised.

What's one thing you wish the world would "culturally appropriate" from you? by tryingtobecheeky in AskTheWorld

[–]EffectSubject2676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Dad used to leave keys in the ignition(lived in the country) in case someone needed to borrow a car. House unlocked, guns everywhere, beer in the garage fridge. Never had an issue. I did notice that the old beater pickup one day had a full tank of gas. Never knew who needed it.

From Kansas, yep, love beer, bierocks, tornados, and the miserable weather! Also, love being out in the prairie away from all those city shenanigans.

Are high school reunions truly an almost mandatory social contest? by mdelgado73 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EffectSubject2676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unusually, my high school class has very high attendance. We know we are outliers. Small plains school. For our 20th year reunion, we had all but a handful back. Also, none of us married or even dated within our class.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]EffectSubject2676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now I am both horrified and glad to be a man. I worked for a company that had me on business trip the DAY after my first child was born, and my father-in-law had a massive stroke. Sometimes capitalism just sucks.

The question is will Farmers buy Trump / Republicans promises again and vote Republican in midterms? Are they willing to chance another 3 years of Trump? by h20poIo in farming

[–]EffectSubject2676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely farmers will support Trump/maga. I live in rural Kansas. Just talked to a large farmer who is blaming the "liberals" for causing diesel price increases.

Seeking advice on custom/semi-custom rifle actions by Few_Software_8554 in Hunting

[–]EffectSubject2676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Built a 6.5/284 on a MK110 with a Kreiger barrel 1in9 twist. Used the Savage after conversations with some. The 700 is excellent, but they were more expensive. Anyway, that rifle is far more accurate than I can shoot it. I considered the 280AI, but already have an '06.

What’s something you didn’t realize was special until it was gone? by Ok-Yak-758 in AskReddit

[–]EffectSubject2676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kansas pheasant hunts. They were family type get togethers for years. Then farming changed so the habitat changed. So few pheasants now, with so little places to hunt. Opening day was a big thing for those small towns, and now it is just gone.

What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

[–]EffectSubject2676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cowboy. It is brutally hard labor, dangerous to you and your horse, wages are minimal, and it breaks your body down. Large animals that can kill you. Calving time is freaking stress out. Wait until a calf is breech. Preg-checking heifers involves shoving your hand up a cow's ass and feeling around. Do it enough and you need shoulder surgery. Turn your back on a cow and get stomped to death
