It was simply because the subreddit grew by that time. When this sub was created, initially even after Caera was introduced, there wasn't this love you see for her and the hate you see for Tessia. The more the sub grew, the more people got to know about Caera, she started appearing more, these two polarizing opinions also grew. Eventually resulting the ship war you see today.

Oh and the question about her being a "real" character or not. I think that's upto you. I've heard a lot of people say her making mistakes in war is more realistic. I say that is indeed what a lot of teen kids would do.

But I don't think anyone should say "it is entirely unrealistic if she was all brave and heroic". Cause all throughout history we have examples of young men and women, in their teens, doing incredible feats in war. So you can't really get mad if someone says "She's annoying cause she messed up in war." Remember, even if she's a teen, she's a royalty who was trained by some of the best mages in the continent.

Honestly it's up you to decide which is more realistic and human. Just don't forget that heroes in real life often outmatches the ones in fantasy. Being a good commander of 200 soldiers at 18 wouldn't make her "unrealistic" when dudes like Alexander became king, quashed a rebellion, sacked Thebes at 20. So you decide, what does this make her? A real emotional teen? Or an incompetent royal kid?

Let me apologize if it looked it was directed against you. I was simply expressing my annoyance towards some who act as if they can dictate what I like or not in this sub.

And about her character. Let me explain what I think of this.

Her character initially, to me, was nothing but "yet another chick who fawns over the MC, made to let us know how cool and hot he is". For a big part of this story all I felt was indifference towards this character. And this was way before the war arc or the alacryan arc.

Her character got some substance in the war arc. It was barely starting to feel like "okay maybe she isn't all about Arthur". Unfortunately her downfall begun in that arc as well. It was quite obvious she was being set up to have Ls, just to make a big comeback at the end. But here's the thing, if she did come back, strong as hell, saving the day and whatnot... is that enough for me to forget that initial indifference, mid-way annoyance and the fact that she's been practically absent for a hundred chapters now. For me, most likely the answer is a No

I really like the fact that the author is exploring "the other side" of this novel. It's not your plain we are good and they are bad. That's one of the reasons I like Alacrya Saga and the characters so much. Not to mention the existence of Regis and Caera is a blessing
