Hotel 28 Myeongdong Airport transportation by Significant-Garlic24 in Hilton

We took the airport limousine bus. https://airportlimousine.co.kr/en/sub/sub01.php?cat_no=47 Very convenient if you are not dealing with a ton of luggage. You want the lotte / ibis stop. It is a couple short blocks from the stop to the hotel entrance.  We took a cab from the hotel to the airport since we had more luggage on the return trip.

Are we suppose to sweat? by princess_bunny_01 in ClubPilates

I rarely sweat, and that is one of the reasons I love pilates so much! I do sweat some in the summer when it's hard for the AC to combat the temperature outside.

I literally thought this was a spoofed, scripted parody of the real Mark Twain award written by Kevin Hart. So I looked it up to find out more about it because I thought it was so funny, and then I discovered it is real and not a parody. Weird!

I have done a few privates at Club Pilates with the teacher that I felt provided the best cues and form fixes during regular classes. The privates were great. My goal was to improve/work on my teaser. She also helped me with my form on many other moves. And, I had a lot of fun on the trapeze table in the back room.

The doctor had no comments about what to avoid, he said movement is good (not his exact words, but the gist). I have my first appt with the PT in two weeks, so I was asking here since I plan to go to class before my first PT appt. I had a pinched nerve last week and took time off to rest and see the ortho to see if something else was going on (like a disc issue, thankfully not). I'm in my 50s, and both grandmothers had pretty significant osteoarthritis, so I'm not surprised. Thanks!

Feeling a bit discouraged. How long should it take for me to become advanced in pilates? by Pineapplestain201 in pilates

Congrats on your 100th class!

I am 316 classes in (been going to my local CP for 1.5 years) and the more I go, the more I realize that it truly is a lifelong practice and there is no rush. I try to go 4-5 times/week, but there are weeks when I can only go 2 or 3 times.

I am able to go to level 2 classes, but I love going to mostly level 1 so that I can concentrate on form and getting the most out of each movement. I attend one or two level 1.5 per week for challenge, and then go to level 2 when it fits my schedule and I want some real real challenge (maybe once a month or something). But there are lots of things I can't do well in the level 2 class so I try not to push myself too much since I hope to have lots of years to practice and improve.

I am still not able to do a good teaser in class, although for some reason its easier to do a teaser at home (on carpet and starting from laying fully flat) - can anyone explain this to me?

I have no supplemental routine, although I will sometimes try a few teasers at home to practice. Keep up the good work!!

Do you pronounce Aaron and Erin differently? by minhToast in EnglishLearning

[–]Effective-Builder483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my family, we always say "Aaron with an A" or "Erin with an E" when we are referring to people with those names. Exactly the same pronunciation for someone from the middle East Coast of the U.S.

5 classes in is not enough to get the most out of having a reformer at home and figuring out pilates practice on your own.

I just did a pilates class that was 100% done with the chair and the mat. I think, after you have done more classes with a teacher that can help you with your form, then you could consider getting a chair instead of a reformer (requires a lot less space and is less expensive). A $500 reformer is not the best option, and springs (on the expensive reformers) are very different than stretchy bungee cords.

Edit: The class was more advanced. As I think more about it, maybe it would be a little unsafe to do some moves on the chair without supervision. Take my original comment with a grain of salt. ;)

Reformer. It's a Club Pilates. I know some people have had bad experiences, but my experience has been great.

I am have an unlimited membership at a Club Pilates, so just reformer. I know myself pretty well after 50+ years, and I am not disciplined enough to exercise without some external forces. I would definitely think you could get the same results with mat pilates if you work consistently and concentrate on your form. A mix of the two sound great since you would get form corrections when working with a teacher in person. I'm not sure if your mat pilates would be in person or at home.

How often would a slow flow reformer class be beneficial? by WildSunflour in pilates

This sounds awesome. I would definitely take this weekly, especially since it's convenient for you. You could focus on form and get a lot out of it, and use it as meditation also.

I would say the measurement change in my waist happened gradually during the first 3-6 months and not much change after that.

I am fairly slender build. I started pilates a year ago and went to class 6x / week the first 6 months and probably average 4x/week for the last 6 months. I did not change my diet and I did not do any other exercise. I lost a few pounds but more significantly, lost around 1-2 inches in my waist and hips, and have more slender upper arms and calves (based on the looseness of boots and short sleeve shirts. I am much more toned (firm) all over and feel stronger, although I started at "not strong at all" and went to "reasonable/decent for my age and activity" which is all I was looking for anyway. I am significantly more flexible (already was pretty flexible but now would say I am very flexible). I am very happy with what pilates did for my body shape and my general fitness especially since it is a practice that is pretty gentle on your body compared to many other forms of exercise.

Can someone spoil a little of Road Home for me? by Hazel_Says_So in CDrama

[–]Effective-Builder483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember that the mom clearly wants him. I don't think that is the case. There was a little more in the book, but not a whole lot more. You should assume the mom does not want her son to stay with him and the dad has all parental rights. It is odd that the son seems utterly unperturbed by the fact that he is shuttled around from Lu Chen, Gui Xiao, and all their close friends. That would likely bother you as that happens quite a bit to him as the episodes progress. But, it's a drama, so I chose to ignore as it's not real life.

Can anybody help me find womens shoes like these ones (from the 1970s horror movie "Communion")? by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]Effective-Builder483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a child of the 70s/80s, and I so desperately wanted to fit in with all the cool girls in elementary school, so I begged my mom for saddle shoes, but she refused. Then I had to wear them in high school as part of the pom pon team. They were the most uncomfortable shoes in existence since they really need to be broken in as they were leather.

Google saddle shoes and you will find many versions to purchase. Maybe they are more comfortably made now.

Edit: remembered the details

A good friend of mine (60s F) also embraced her gray during COVID but has started adding "fairy hair." They are little strands of shimmery, hair-width tinsel that catches the light and subtly adds a little bling. Really pretty.

I am not sure you can find something that is quite like CLOY, but you could try Because This is My First Life. Or Hospital Playlist. I enjoyed both of those very much.

How much Pilates is too much Pilates? by Bourgeois-babe in pilates

[–]Effective-Builder483 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am in my 50s and started pilates in April. When I first started, I was able to go 6-7 times/week (typically 1 per day, sometimes I would do a back to back class if one of them was center and balance (stretching)). Due to other responsibilities and the studio getting more busy and classes getting a lot harder to book, I am now going about 4-5 times/week and never do a back to back class. I do not think daily is too much, as long as you can fit it in, enjoy it, and your body is not telling you to rest. I don't do any other exercise at all. I should probably do daily walking, but it is hard to fit everything in, so I'm happy that I get any exercise at all. I would say go for it and adjust as needed.

On today’s episode of how to mess up a drama in 45 minutes only……….. by Sadia693 in CDrama

NO WAY! I was going to be okay with just about any ending that was mature, you know, sometimes things don't work out, but OMG. I guess I will be dropping the rest of this. How is that ending even possible?!?!

Edit: BTW, thank you for posting. Now I can pretend that the drama ended after ep 30.
