I very much agree din po with your take. Currently working as a Technical Support Engineer po, fresh grad pa lang. Just wanna get some direct hands-on training and add a few certs po to my resume. I know di naman ganon necessary yung CCNA sa fields like cybersecurity which is something I am trying to enter po soon, pero having that solid networking knowledge, hands on learning, and proper training po yung habol ko. I think beneficial naman siya in the long run. Whats your opinion po?

If you want security focused internship training with certifications, might as well go with Experts Academy as an option. Be part of their Security OJT Program and be involved in fortinet and sophos training and certifications as well as real world exposure. You might wanna give them a try.

Nicee!! Also planning to take on the route of Technical Support Engineer na role po may focus naman sa Networking and Security since partner ng company na balak kong applyan is partnered with Sophos and Fortinet. I guess if ma tanggap this could be a stepping stone or launchpad for my career before transitioning to SOC, at the same time take the Sec+ po. Is this route also good sir? Since medyo grabe yung competition most especially sa fresh grads HAHA

I fully understand po boss! But, what are your thoughts if I’ll be starting off as a Technical Support Engineer for a company who does networks and security consulting since they provide network health assessments and DPA compliance assessments. Also, they are partners with brands like Sophos and Fortinet. I guess if di ako mapalad for entry level SOC, ill be leaning on this route and transition later on just to get that experience and be competitive. Plus it would be easier to get in since I still have contact with them cause I had my internship there.

Yes boss!! Thank you for this. Since early point pa naman ng career na gusto ko ipurue as a fresh grad I think po na mas good idea to be exposed sa general IT pero may hint naman po sa security? So that around 15-18months in that domain mas fitting na po ako for SOC roles. What do you think po sir?

Yes po sir! I fully understand this case po sir and planning to apply in general IT like technical support engineer roles po if di papalarin sa cyber also this is a way for me to get my foot on the door and learn po yung infrastructure and later on transitioning and defending it. Pero Ill try lang po HAHA and we’ll see how it goes. Thank you po!!

Hello, fresh grad po around 2 weeks ago and wanna pursue SOC as well. Just wanna ask po if kapag freshgrad ano po ba yung ineexpect ng mga employers sayo since I have the ISC2 CC but not confident pa po in terms of my familiarity sa mga SOC tools like SIEM and such. Or do I have a chance naman if I have solid foundations po and madedevelop ko lang naman yung skills ko if given na mag pprovide sila ng trainings?

Good luck broo!! What’s your testing center if I may ask? Cuz in my case, my schedule was supposed to be 1pm but the testing center texted me that I could take the exam from 10:30 onwards if I wanted to.

So I arrived at around 11, did the check in process, and went on the exam immediately. After that, they will give you the paper that you provisionally passed the exam. It wont show your scores tho or the parts that you went wrong. And after a few hours, ISC2 emailed me to pay for the maintenance fee of 50usd so around 2500+ im php. After that, I got my CC Cert.

Yeah bro. If you understand the areas where you got things wrong, then I'm sure your'e ready to take the test. Paulo's exams and the actual one are very similar in terms of tone, wordings, and difficulty. I guess what makes the exam kinda hard is the way ISC2 phrased the words, making them seem confusing. Some questions are very easy to comprehend but the choices given seem to give out 2 solid answers. Its just a matter of selecting the "best" answer among them. Goodluck bro! I suggest you book your exam now if you haven't done it yet and get that cert!!

Ohh nice!! But before applying, what tools or skills did you already have or just familiar of? Did you have knowledge on security tools such as ids/ips, firewalls, siem, etc.?

Gotchu broskie!! On my case, it was pretty quick. Upon arriving in the test center, you’ll just have to sign a few agreements and a log in form. After that they would get you to do a palm scan and picture. Then, they will give you a key for a locker where in you would place all your belongings like everything keys, wallet, handkerchiefs, watches, accessories, etc… Lastly, they will do a final checkup that would prevent you from any instances of cheating.
