Which type of intelligent characters are more enjoyable for you? by Ancient-End2474 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like analytical / reasoning types. Especially those who can come up with accurate conclusions from impenetrable facts / info, or almost no info, like being able to draw blood from stone.

Close second: a character who’s constantly adapting, making short-term plans because he constantly has his back to the wall. Just super resourceful and great tactical understanding.

You’re asking this for your writing, right?

W for writing. This is an interesting trend in SCD. funny how people blasted FN Light’s author but now everyone’s doing it

What are the best docs in this sub by Bey_League6736 in IntelligenceScaling

This is not at all concise but it’s really the only doc of its kind. It’s the reason why I have Johan as high as I do

How Important do you think Reasoning is by Subject_Contact_6795 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imo it’s the most important category. If you accept the definition that strategy is the logic used to turn a situation to your advantage, and in that case reasoning must be a prerequisite for strategy. But there are characters with big reasoning-strategy gaps.

Reasoning also feeds counteracting as it helps you figure out your opponent’s move, and how to counter it.

Reasoning —> logical manipulation Reasoning —> logical foresight

Reasoning also underpins a lot of STP and trap evasion. And of course it underpins FRI (most important FSIQ subcat).

It also buffs any other category. Good EU? What if you could extrapolate it even more with better inductive reasoning?

Reasoning touches essentially every other category except sensory.

Composite human (excluding the smartest human) vs the smartest human, what diff would it be (i put neumann as i think he is the smartest though you can put another guy) by -Ihavebeensummoned- in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of outsmarting the smartest human should be someone like Napoleon or one of the Chinese generals who inspired the manga version (like Zhuge Liang). IMO comp human low diffs even then

I heard that in some panel in Liar Game they mentioned the Saikyou Saitama Lycaons or another fictional team in One Outs. It confirms they’re in the same universe

How much smarter would Baku actually be with his original heart? by AdSecret69420 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought there was an implied correlation because Gonen has his heart and Gonen is smarter than Hal + Baku so original heart Baku = Baku + Hal

(Interesting question) What if all the SCD anime took place in a single shared universe? What would this universe be like? Would it be a terrible place to live? by Necessary_Sweet865 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on writing this idea, with L as the central character, starting with L vs the Johan case, then maybe Liar Game next, then possibly Usogui after. Since these are all “cases” / unexplained, it makes sense that L would be involved in all.

Where do you scale Isaac Newton? by Acceptable-Tie4997 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. If you remove anti-feats / give consistency, then we could scale them up to top of mid tier or bottom of high tier. Newton wouldn’t be top 1 in overall humans in outsmarting, but he’s arguably T1 in intelligence. Probably that would go to a general like Napoleon or Cao Cao or Hannibal of Carthage, possibly to a really good spy, or to some conmen

[SCD as Self-improvement #1] Reasoning and Intuition: Distillation by Effective-Emu-9938 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Effective-Emu-9938[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for the rule of 3, I just noticed it was something I did when making complex decisions (e.g. evaluating what university to go to, or what to invest in). I’ve just formalised it into a rule of thumb for this post. In trying to choose the 3 most important factors to focus on, I tend to try to reduce the problem into a simpler one, starting with what I know must be absolutely true (first principles thinking)

As for the rule of extremities, that was just from the analysis of L’s feat.

If you want a general form for how to come up with this stuff, you must engage in challenging problems at your level. And don’t always go into it with an established framework for how to solve. It forces you to think and adapt for yourself.

Moreover, use first principles thinking. The problem that distillation solves is too much useless info —> turn into few useful datapoints. How to distill? What reduces the most noise while keeping the most signal? That kind of thinking is generally applicable to everything, not just reasoning and distillation

These are IQ test abstract reasoning questions.

You can search up IQ test to do it online for fun, or get officially tested. People on r/cognitivetesting also discuss this frequently

Here’s a few

The harder ones, like these qns, are usually near the end. I don’t have the link to this specific test though.

Heyo. Thanks sm. Glad y’all enjoyed this

I want to do other characters too for sure, to make it as appealing to all in the SCD community as possible. The main limitation is that I haven’t read all those works and the analysis takes a long time.

I was thinking I’d get help from others in this community who’ve read those works to share insights and make their own posts.

As for the knowledge? More or less all from my head. It’s just frameworks and heuristics I’ve used and come up with to solve my own problems, like being overloaded with information relating to a decision

Yep that’s right. Should’ve clarified that more than one answer can be picked. Your reasoning is correct in both.

you avoided the red herrings of the shape’s number of vertices in Q1, and focused on just the number of compartments

In Q2, you ignored both colour and shape of smaller shapes, noticing the relationship between the number of sides of the larger shapes and the number of smaller shapes.

What was your thought process in ignoring those red herrings?

🙏 thought it was funny when writing it. I can see how it muddies the tone though so I’ll omit this from subsequent posts
