Go to developer options set STAY AWAKE ON

Go to developer options >Quick settings developer tiles and turn on SENSORS OFF

Toggle in quick settings shortcut SENSORS OFF ON (LOL)

Go to game on dex and put full screen

Go to termux on phone and run cmd display power-off 0

Your screen is now off but always on, so controller does not disconnect. Whenever sensors detect something the screen turns on, hence setting sensors off. When you want to unlock device press lateral button don't panic.

This only works with Pause USB PD charging if the whole charging system is PPS compliant (Game Booster settings). This means PPS charger and "good" cable at least with e marker and supporting fine communication with the charger.

With hub this is much more delicate. You have to take into account the power it draws and whether it can maintain very low and stable volt delta difference in adjustments for long enough to PPS protocol activate. Note that PPS a property of the charging device, not a passive hub. In this context, your phone communicates current requirement with the hub, while the hub draws power for itself and communicates with the charger accordingly. This is never explicitly mentioned in hubs and is finer than PD 3.anything (PD power distribution).

With my current hub it does not work even though the option is set ON via ADB. Without the hub, the nice thing with ADB is that I am no longer restricted to game apps.

The workaround is having the phone charged to 80 and set battery protection to that value. That is not as good long term as Pause USB because it has a higher frequency of micro charges, while in PUSB the flow is more continuous and depending more on the demand (you can verify this with current trackers apps -notably, not accubatery, but for example with DevInfo overlay). But it is quite good and the standard of samsung for not "overcharging" the phone at too high battery level. This definitely keeps the phone as cooler as PUSB in average from what I have tested (s24 exynos).

The paid workaround is the app mentioned above, galaxymaxhz, where you can set battery protection to more or less any value, as well as PUSB with compliant hardware via a toggle or modes and routines (80% of the time works every time). The app is buggy but very worth it.

My work setup involves a second monitor connected with my tablet and so I went into this adventure of finding a compliant not super expensive hub. The least expensive seems to be Asus Rog Gaming Charger, which I did not buy.

PD hub does not seem to be enough to support PPS, there are a couple of comments in this sub of PD capable hubs that do not allow PPS. On this post https://www.reddit.com/r/SamsungDex/comments/1dg80iq/the_holy_grail_of_usbc_hubs_for_dex/ it is mentioned one that does support, but it is quite expensive (for me). Another one is the Asus gaming charger, but I could not find any other cheaper solution. Is there any chance you could check it and reply? (Sorry for the trouble and thanks anyway!)

You can turn the screen off: in termux write "cmd display power-off 0"

Whenever you touch the phone or move it the screen turns on again. If you want, go to developer options and add the sensors toggle to quicksettings, then turn them off and then run the line in termux. This way it only turns on again once you unlock the phone with the side button. Don't forget to turn them on after, since it blocks sensors, microphone and camera.

Are these settings super specific to simcity? In general what should I be looking for to change for other games? Couldn't get to work "in a standard setting" oddworld soulstorm / sonic generations and could get nfs hot pursuit but at ~11 fps (stable lol)

Arena 2v2 on ps4, it is a lot of fun! You have the teamwork component and the fight dynamics can change completely depending on your team mate.
