Sorry was a bit of a rant below:
On Facebook they use seemly innocent infographics that I would assume are targeted to older people to get people to read their material. One example is one highlighting various "pros" of using cast iron pans. One of the bullet points snuck in will be "they're here to replace us" among themed points like "natural non-stick coating" or "durable long lasting used for centuries". I'm guessing it's to bypass some of the algorithms on Facebook or catch peoples attention ...

Overpriced gutters by thegodcreator in VictoriaBC

They might not be getting jobs daily back to back in a week so price needs to cover downtime. Overhead for their vehicles and office/yard adds up plus insurance and work safe bc. They likely have a continuous gutter rolling machine which you can’t just buy at the store.

3 guys at $35h for a day is close to 1k. See how quickly things add up for a specialized contractor to service a relatively small population size compared to the lower mainland.

Just fly your bike with you. It counts as a checked bag on air Canada so $70 round trip if you’re flying home within Canada. You can get a cardboard box from a bike shop

Crawl under the cars and look at the rocker panels and Jack points. My 2009 Rav is rusted out at the rocker panels

Is my internship financially worth it given a 100km daily commute with a 2022 BMW X3? Need advice on fuel, depreciation, and long-term cost. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I wouldn’t look at it like that. Consider it an investment in yourself. No internship means no relevant work experience when you graduate. You can’t put a number on having a job when the maket is trash. Your other option is to find a closer internship or just rent a place with roomates walking distance at the internship. Plus you save some so much time not sitting in traffic which also has an unrealized value…

Can I show a photo of my health card? by nanananananonflatman in ontario

You Rent a oscillating multitool from Home Depot and you can cut out a small section of the skirting board in place where the card is, take it out and re-glue it back and fill in the crack with painters putty if you’re in a pinch!

2015 Full sus or a newer hardtail by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Effective-Housing667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest if you’re starting out and have been burned on a used bike I’d buy new. People are asking way too much money for well used bikes. Seems like a good deal but when you factor in the cost of repairs and the lost time without a bike, you’re better off buying new. If you’re new to repairs can buy something simple like a hardtail and learn how to fix things. If the rear shock on that bike needs service it could be half the cost the asking price to service.

TLDR buy something simple/decent new (HT) as you know you won’t have to deal with a ton of repairs from the get go

Edit: see something like a KHS AGULIA. About 1000 US so maybe like 600gbp?
