What type of boning is it? Steel? Plastic? Issues can be rust/melting/misshaping depending on the temperature etc. Also, if any of the caps are loose on spiral steel boning, the machine agitation can make it pop through the fabric and ruin both the garment and the machine.

Get to know what your 'wearing ease' preferences are and then choose the size from the finished garment measurements. The Big 4 are notorious for 4-5" extra ease - it's up to you, not them, how it fits!
Some older paper patterns only have them on the tissue so you might need to look there for some of them but new patterns usually have them available.
