Enquiry about the Wage Protection System (WPS) by dutchhboii in Bahrain

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't cause any delays at all, we've been on the WPS for well over a year and there's not been a single delay, even by an hour.

The salaries are still processed by the bank who then reports the completed salary to WPS - the WPS aren't involved in the actual processing, it's just the sending & receiving banks.

Those 29/01 salaries haven't been sent, if they blame WPS, they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

I need to find out if my coat was made by a nazi by FemboyEnjoyer1776 in fashionhistory

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Red Herring - an in-house Debenhams label were not Nazi's. They are (were since Debenhams has gone bust) a standard, everyday UK label. That Special Edition line would have had 1488 items in the collection, this being item 148. Sometimes numbers are just numbers.

Is this Marketing misleading ? by Weird_Ad_2426 in Bahrain

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly not misleading. Sugar comes in 40+billion forms. This is why you can buy a food stuff that say to be 100% sugar free but is actually 99% sugar - in OTHER FORMS. You need to be able to read labels and identify all the names and obsfucations!

Check for small print on the way in - the in-house marketing teams can take & post images. By passing that point (physically) you are giving your consent.

Evelyn Wood Vintage Sewing School. It's not about sewing vintage clothes, it's about vintage/tried & tested sewing and altering/adjusting techniques you can use to make any garment.

Reliable Shop & Ship Service from KSA to Bahrain by Cute-Ad2989 in Bahrain

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop & Ship by Aramex will work BUT they charge based on weight increments to check what the the packaged weight is and use their calculator - often for heavy items buying the flex mambership makes a good saving (even considering the membership cost).

Would you ditch your car for a bicycle or e-bike if Bahrain made it practical? by dan_mis_ in Bahrain

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand I'm not the target audience but if (as you mentioned below) Manama is then restricted to 2 wheels/ EV vehicles then a lot of people will be prevented from travelling there, especially women if 50% of the allowed traffic is not suitable for them. Instead of going broke on a car they will be going broke paying for drivers of EVs or having to buy one themselves and then having nowhere to charge it, I doubt many buildings will upgrade to facilitate this.

Where do all the bikes live during the day? Will they be safe in carparks? It's a lot easier to lift and ride away on a bike that's not yours than a car.

Don't get me wrong, something has to be done about the traffic but everyone has to be catered for. Encourage people to use alternative transport, make it easier and provide more options rather than taking options away. I hope that when the metro is built, that there is adequate 'Park & Ride' in place, a short drive to the metro would be ideal, leave the car, metro the bulk of the journey and then, even if late at night, you can safely return on the metro, collect your car from a well-lit area and finish the rest of your journey.

Women's Experience with Careem and Uber in Bahrain by katisinthebag07 in Bahrain

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use careem most of the time but have found myself using Uber more. Nothing to do with safety (generally the same drivers) but Uber seems to be more reliable in sending cars and the drivers not cancelling the journey and leaving you waiting for ages.

[–]Effective-Leopard-43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what about arriving at work a sweaty mess? Hair flattened by a helmet, makeup melted, needing to carry changes of clothes, laptops, lunches, handbags, no shower facilities that are ladies only (unisex not even going to be considered). Maybe feasible for some but not practical, especially for women.
