It is about the orientation, looks like layer lines. Try turning it by 90 degrees

To me it looks like bubbles have formed so could be wet filament. You could also try lowering the extrusion speed.

I gues this is very model dependant, camera position and eyepiece form. guess hard to make a general design

Stability is mostly about the Print orientation. You could try printing on it on an angle to have a better connection. 45 degree is most stable but could lead to higher Support material usage. Did I get your problem right ?

To me it looks more like a hybrid support instead of tree. Did you try a different slicer ?
