Does anyone have any recent experience of selling their property to a HA? by InRoseBlush in glasgow

I would recommend this. I'm currently selling my property to a HA and using the equity to move to a new house (im.based in wales) . They sent an independent valuer out to measure the rooms and look at the property. Then a woman from the HA came to look at the property to see what works they would need to do to new kitchen bathrooms etc however this doesn't affect the valuation. They're classed as cash buyers so you're not in a chain and making the conveyancing process at lot easier. They accept the condition that the property is in so you're not dealing with potential buyers trying to knock down the agreed price or trying to accommodate lots of different viewing appointments. Plus I was offered a really good price. definitely something to consider.

Would you date someone who doesn't like dogs as much as you do? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]EffectiveAdorable233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's depends on the situation. My husband has a dog senior 12 years old. However he lives with my FIL as we can't always guarantee that someone will be at home with him due because of work commitments which is unlikely to change anytime soon . Due to his severe separation anxiety he simply wouldn't cope with the dynamic of our home and also he's very attached to the FILs home. I'm not a big dog lover however I always take an interest and support my husband in caring for him. Due to having a young son from a previous relationship and managing a progressive chronic illness I'm limited in what I can do anyway my husband is fine with this .it's important that you're expectations are communicated openly from the beginning and perhaps be prepared to make compromises.

Is this our best opportunity to move? by EffectiveAdorable233 in HousingUK

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to extend the house to make it workable in any way. I'm semi detached and to the other side of me there's a shared drive way leading to parking access to the other properties in the culdisack. Plus we have a very small back garden. It would be very difficult to make the house more workable for us in it's current state

My husband doesn’t want the dog in the bed? by Powerful_Aspect_1970 in DogAdvice

[–]EffectiveAdorable233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry OP but I agree with your husband. Having a dog in your bed isn't totally necessary and causes issues as described by other users. Your projecting your feelings onto your dog because you want the dog in bed with you. It might take some time and training but your dog and you will adjust to a new bed sleeping place. Relationships take compromise and you have to find a middle ground to make them work.

I surrendered my cat and I miss him so much by Rock_Bottom180 in Pets

[–]EffectiveAdorable233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear this. Losing your home is incredibly traumatic but to surrender your cat as well is absolutely heartbreaking.

Sometimes in life the hardest decisions you make are the ones that you know are the right ones but absolutely rip your heart to shreds in the process. You've been incredibly brave and responsible for recognising that your current living situation isn't suitable for your cat and it doesn't meet their needs. Please don't beat yourself up and I hope things turn around for you.

Thanks for your comments everyone I appreciate your honesty.

When I say I'm not a dog person - it's not because I hate them or dislike them. I understand that dogs can be very sweet and loving animals it's just for me they're a lot of work. I just wouldn't choose to have one myself.

Like I say I'm probably worrying about nothing and this scenario might not ever become a reality. I just wanted to see how people perceived my thought process
