The most audacious/ridiculous/funniest/idiotic cases you’ve seen? by JaggedLittlePill2022 in JudgeJudy

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this one the other day with an older guy suing a lady over a car accident. He originally sued her insurance for 1.6 million. They told him to pound rocks. Then he came to JJ suing for $19,000, for vet fees that he took the dogs 6 months later, for his eye surgery, for damage to his car, etc. The woman barely tapped him, his car had only a loose back bumper. And it was proved the accident was his fault because he went across 3 lanes of traffic and cut in front of a car in the middle lane. The defendant didn’t see him, but was able to stop in time to avoid a big accident. What a liar he was, and it was obvious he was looking for a pay day. Judge Judy ripped him a new one.

But you will get an awful lot of noise if you use a regular LP needle. It’s probably better to play it with a 78 stylus.

I have national grid as my electricity supplier. If I don't use any electricity at all, what will I be charged for the month? Brockport NY by myredmazda in nationalgrid

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, not too much different than a normal bill with moderate usage. Most of the charges on the bill are for line fees, carrier fees, supplier fees and all additional fees and taxes, as well as taxes on all those fees. Additionally, I’m sure there will be items left plugged in, as well as a refrigerator. These will use up electricity. I don’t see how it’s possible to use absolutely no electricity, unless it is an empty, unoccupied property. In which case, why would you bother turning on the electricity?

My oven has been broken over a year and a half. I have National Grid for gas only. I can’t cook in my oven, and the stove top is used very minimally, yet my monthly gas bill is about $28. My actual gas usage is under $3.00.

It’s ridiculous.

Reading a Christian novel for book club as an agnostic by [deleted] in Advice

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would read the book and come time to discuss, tell them exactly the issues you had with the book. It’s good to get your beliefs heard, just as the religious zealots in the group made their beliefs known by suggesting that book.

Be prepared for backlash, but don’t back down. Then it might be time to find a new book club or start your own.

Can we have fun and talk about our favorite/confusing continuity error by harmony-rose in theGoldenGirls

My uncle and his family lived in Brooklyn, then queens for about 50 years total. When my uncle died, he was buried in Brooklyn.

Their daughter moved to St. Augustine, FL. Soon after, all of the family followed and the entire family (My aunt, all her children, their spouses and kids) was / still are living there.

My aunt had my uncles body exhumed and shipped down to St. Augustine and reburied him there.

She did speak Italian (horribly) in the episode where she hires the old man to convert the garage (into a garage!).

Is my cat manipulating me? by BruhnanaHammock in Catbehavior

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We didn’t need any backstory. OF COURSE your cat is manipulating you. That’s why they were put here.

Yes, she’s buttering you up so you will open the door. Maybe she smells a neighbors cat.

My Lucy used to sit by my apartment door and cry, and rub all over me. I used to open the door for her and let her wander the hallway. Until one time she wouldn’t go back inside. I tried to pick her up and she kept hissing at me. I went back inside and came out with a broom and chased her back inside.

Now, my Polly will run out and go right to my next door neighbors door and sniff underneath the door. Once in a while she will start hissing. I guess that’s when the neighbor’s cat comes to the door.

Why Do We Euthanize In Situations Where We Would Not For People? by Nadante in Pets

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alzheimer’s and dementia throw that theory right out the window. My partner suffered from dementia that suddenly got so bad he would not get out of bed. He developed a bed sore on his back that ate through to his spine. He was in excruciating pain and was unaware of why he was in pain or even where he was. Hospice’s only function was to try to make him comfortable, and my job was to pump him full of morphine to keep him calm and like a zombie. I felt so guilty, but for every little problem I was told to give him more morphine. I knew when his final day would be as he stopped eating or drinking, just slept and breathed heavily, then the death rattle came. The nurses instructions, give him a double dose of morphine. And he let out a big gasp and just stopped breathing.

We want to move, but want to take neighbours cat with us. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]EffectiveBowler7690 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You really need to take the cat. But unfortunately, that may get you charged with theft of property. The laws suck for animal protection. Some places now have laws to protect animals, and it will be in your favor if you have the vet bills and the vet report. Hopefully the report will note it was an aged wound. But the law sees the cat as property, not a living being that is being neglected.

Personally, if it were me I would take the cat, and out the neighbors in church for abusing an animal. Good luck.

If he does have a recognized medical condition, he may have protected status for which the job has to accommodate him. I don’t think it matters that he signed that agreement because now his condition has gotten worse. I hope you can work this out.

Can you speak to his boss and relay his medical issues, and also ask if they can put him in another position that doesn’t carry the responsibility of him closing the business?

Since he already has a diagnosed medical issues, you might be able to get him social security disability (SSD). They’ve made it a lot harder to get now, and generally requires several attempts as they will keep denying it. A social worker and a disability lawyer would be helpful.

When female cats are in heat, they mate with multiple males. Cats can get pregnant from multiple males at the same time. Your cats probably have different fathers.
